Adoxa
Question: is it okay if i take ibuprofen and adoxa (doxycycline) in the same night? so i have some pretty bad cramps so i took two ibuprofens..but i also take this other pill for my face (cause i have pretty bad acne...the pill mkes it all disappear :-D) called adoxa which is doxycycline....i was just wondering if that's harmful or anything?
ps i have to take both pills at night
Answer: Ibuprofen - anti-inflammatory
Doxycycline - antibiotic
Not the same class of drugs. Taking them together should not normally cause problems.
Be careful not to take more than 3 Gms (3000mg or 15-200mg Advils) of Ibuprofen in any 24-hour period.
Both Ibuprofen and Doxycycline should be taken with food - not necessarily a 7-course meal but crackers and juice, toast. . .something.
Follow your pharmacist's advice about all medications.
AND PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take ALL of the antibiotic for the length of time and as prescribed by your health care provider: we have WAY TOO MANY mutant bacteria running around now and part of the cause is INCOMPLETE ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY.
Question: Has anybody ever taken adoxa for their acne, did it work?
Answer: No personal experience, but here is a link to a number of forums and message boards on this subject.
I think you'll find it very informative to read about others experience with this medication.

Question: Does Adoxa Doxycyline work? I started using Ziana gel about a month ago, and after seeing little improvement I got my Dermatologist to give me a sample of some oral antibiotics, Adoxa Doxycycline. I've been taking them for about a week now, in addition to the Ziana gel, and I'm still breaking out. Has anyone had good experiences with either of these medications. I have mild/moderate acne.
Answer: To be honost with you I've only been on the stuff for about three days. However, since I've been taking it I havent broken out since. Adoxa Doxycycline lowers your serum levels so you can get rid of what you already have, without having to worry about breaking out again.
Right now I am also using Ziana (gel) and Oscion Cleanser. Its only been a few days but in some areas I've gotten better. Considering you have mild acne, and I have a stage 6-7 minor sistic acne (almost as bad as you can get),Adoxa will work wonders for you. Just remember to read the instructions. Do not ingest calcium, iron, or zinc two hours before taking the pill or two hours after. Its a good idea to take it in the morning so atleast you can eat lunch =).
Question: is the medicine adoxa time released? is it safe to crush up?
Answer: Adoxa is not time released.
Its just a simple coated tablet just to make it look good.
Yes you can crush it....but whats the problem taking it whole?
Just follow all other precaution of tetracylins....e.g. dont administer with milk...etc

Question: Adoxa and Sun exposure? To those who have experience with Adoxa Doxycycline, an antibiotic that helps control acne.
This past weekend I was out in the sun a lot, having taken one Adoxa capsule after a while (just got the prescription filled after a few weeks of not being on it). In the path of a few days, my face looks very pinkish with a brand new breakout coming in. Could my sudden breakout be caused by Adoxa's sun sensitivity? Has exposure to the sun caused breakouts when on Adoxa in your experience?
Answer: all doxycyclines (including adoxa) have the potential for exaggerated sunburn. burns irritate your skin & could possibly cause a break out. if you are in the sun alot or on occasion, you might ask your doctor to switch you to minocycline which has <1% chance of photosensitivity.
good luck!

Question: Can taking two doses of an antiobiotic for 2 days then discontinuing cuase the condition to worsen? Im on adoxa (doxycycline) and I took two doses in a period of two days. The side affects are really bad so I dont want to take any more pills. If i stop will my acne get worse?
Answer: I know exactly how you feel. Just tell your doctor. He/She will prescribe another antibiotic that your body can tolerate better, without compromising the desire effect. Do Not just discontinue the antibiotic without telling your doctor, the bacteria in your skin that the antibiotic is trying to kill will only get stronger and if you choose to start on the same antibiotic at a later time it will not work, because the bacteria will develop tolerance to it.
Question: My 13 year old daughter is taking Adoxa 150mg per day and using the topical gels Duac and Tazorac for her acne? She has been going to the dermatoligist for this for 2 years, and I don't see a significant improvment at all. I am concerned about all this medicine she is taking-any suggestions?
Answer: Acne Rid or remove
STOP popping the spots, also known as pimples and zits. This may make the pimple look worse due to inflammation and irritation. Popping a zit can spread infection under the skin and produce even more pimples than before. If you do pop a spot then immediately clean it with soap and water or rubbing alcohol in order to prevent infection. If a pimple erupts in a particularly bothersome place, learn how to target a single pimple. And if you're determined to pop, learn how to pop a pimple safely and properly. If you do pop a pimple and you want to avoid anything resembling Western medicine, one thing to try is put a mixture of honey and ground cinnamon on the spot. Put a band-aid on it also. You may also want to stay away from stress.

Question: Are there any bad side effects of taking concerta and adoxa at the same time?
Answer: i did not see any noted interactions between concerta and adoxa (or doxycycline at all) on the list of possible interactions... however make sure there is something in your stomach when you take the adoxa (like crackers r something) i made that mistake once and was so nauseous and had such pain in my stomach it was horrible also make sure you drink plenty of water with it
Question: Can acne worsen if I discontinue taking the antibiotic after taking two doses within two days? Im on adoxa (doxycycline) and I took two doses in a period of two days. The side affects are really bad so I dont want to take any more pills. If i stop will my acne get worse?
Answer: you should concern a doctor..
Question: A few questions about Adoxa (doxycycline)? My dermatologist recently prescribed me Adoxa for my acne. I looked it up online and it said that it should not be taken with milk, nor should you take it with vitamin and mineral supplements. However, I drink a lot of milk and I take a One-A-Day Teen Advantage for Women multi-vitamin/mineral as well as L-Lycine because I have gum problems. My doctor didn't mention any of this when she told me she was giving it to me, so is it really going to cause a problem if I continue drinking milk and taking my vitamins? Thanks for any help!
Answer: It just means don't take it at the same time. Take the doxycyline in the morning or before bed or something and the others at normal times of day. The minerals and stuff will affect absorption of the med and also the combo might hurt your stomach.
Question: dermatologist - cetaphil, adoxa, differin? i went to see a dermatologist today about my acne and acne scars, she prescribed me adoxa and differin and also recommended that i used cetaphil, ive used cetaphil in the past and it did not look pretty, i started having cystic acne on my face so i stopped using it, i rebought it today hoping the cetaphil may react differently with the prescriptions, has anyone used this combo before? (cetaphil, adoxa, differin) i would like some input :) also, IF my face does clear from all this, are the results permanent, will i have to keep on with the prescriptions, im not made of moolah :(
Answer: Hey. I actually have used all 3 of those at once and i did see results!!! The cetaphil made my skin feel cleaner and smoother, while the differin mainly dried it out and made my nose peal (Ew).Most notable, were the results from the Adoxa. I know its so expensive, but it works better than anything i've ever used....though, i went off of it for 2 weeks and deffinitely saw acne coming back. The other products helped, but not nearly as much as the adoxa. Hope this helps
Question: how do i get rid of acne scars and acne fast!? i have small bumps on my face, but not many large zits, just small bumps under my skin. and on the sides of my face i have redish brownish acne scars. the dermatologist perscribed creams ( 2 types, 1 in the morning and 1 in the night) and adoxa pills to take once a day. the medicine doesnt take away the acne scars though. please help me.
Answer: As per a report many anti-acne products are known to worsen rosacea symptoms. Medical experts strongly urge rosacea sufferers to stop using these products.
Rosacea is a common skin condition that affects many Americans, but it can also spread to the eyes and cause a constant gritty, burning sensation.
I have been in search a product that works on my skin, I finally found it on one of acne rosacea review site. I use ZENMED Skin Support System - Dry Skin, and I saw results in weeks!
I recommend to go for ZENMED Skin Support System - Dry Skin once. Cheers
Question: When i go tanning, my face burns, but my body gets a great tan? how can i get them to both be evenly tan? I used to have great tan skin. Then i started taking a pill for acne called doxycycline or adoxa, and i started having a pinkish tint to my face. My body still tans great its just my face, i use tanning lotion on my body but not on my face because the lotions irritate the skin. i have no clue on whats going on, or a way to fix it, if any one knows let me know thanks
Answer: What bed are you using?
Regardless, you're supposed to wear sunscreen on your face when you start using products that control acne.
"Doxycycline: Avoid exposure to sunlight or artificial UV rays (sunlamps or tanning beds). Doxycycline can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight and sunburn may result. Use a sunscreen (minimum SPF 15) and wear protective clothing if you must be out in the sun."
Use a sunless tanner on your face and put a towel over it while tanning. Maybe a HP bed would allow you to adjust the facial lamps to a degree that would not cause your skin to burn.
I really really really suggest you visit the site below. Join up and ask this question in their forums. They know everything when it comes to tanning.
Question: Acne Meds.... How long until pills work for me to see results? I am currenty on Adoxa, and I was actually expecting some instantneous face transformation.... nothing so far. On top of this, I am also using retin A at night. For anyone who has been on an acne regimen, tell me, how long until you saw results? and what was your regimen?
Answer: I used retin-a too, my face became super bad for about a month! I broke out so much more than I used to. It was so sick. By the middle of the second month, it started to clear up, but I was still stuck with redness and more post hyperpigmentation. On the bright side... there were no scarring.
I hope you don't have plans on Valentine's because the first few weeks of treatment really sucks.
Question: Has anyone been on these acne medications? Adoxa (pill)
Tazorac (cream)
Duac (gel)
Benziq (face wash)
What are your experiences with them and do they work? My dermatologist has put me on all 4 of these. I take the Adoxa once a day at dinner, I use the Tazorac at night, I use the Duac in the morning, and I use the Benziq both in the morning and night.
Thanks!!!
Answer: ive been on them all. i dont do well with pills usually, so i dont think i was on adoxa long, but if you dont have side effects you should do well! my best advice is to get into a great routine and always use everything every day. that was my downside, forgetting specific parts! i had tazorac pads to wipe on my face which were easy, do you have these? if this is your first time on anything, you should do well, just stick with everythin religiously, and speak up to your dermetologist if you dont like something. he/she is being paid by you, so get exactly what you want and need! good luck : )
Question: How do I get rid of moderate-severe acne!??!?! Help!!!? I suffer with moderate-slightly severe acne and I've tried absolutely everything!!! Countless over-the-counter stuff, plus FIVE perscription treatments! My acne won't budge! Plus, I'm breaking out in MORE places then I ever have! Right now I'm on Retin-A and Adoxa Oral Tablets, but neither of those is doing anything!
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I do??? I'm trying to stay away from Accutane...
Answer: i was in the same place a couple years ago, and trying to stay away from acutane because i myself was depressed and i had seen what it had done to a couple of my friends who already were depressed before they went on it. i talked to my dermatologist, and we tried many different things, some things caused slight improvement, some things didnt do anything at all. i told him i didnt want to try acutane because of the side effects, and he said that if nothing else produces the desired results, that would be my last option. since nothing else was working, they told me either go on acutane, or have the acne for the rest of my life, and i knew i didnt want that. i realized that the acne was a contributor to my depression because it prevented me from having the social life that i wanted. since then, ive been acne free, and although i was worried, not just the about the depression, but also because its known to make your cholesterol high, and thats always been a problem for me, but unfortunately, that may be the choice you're faced with, and once your face clears up, you will look back and wonder why you didnt do it sooner, just make sure to monitor whatever it is youre worried about closely
