Question: Is there a drug for type 2 Diabetes, which works as well as Avandaryl, but is cheaper? I am taking Avandaryl twice a day for my Diabetes and it works great. The major problem is that Avandaryl costs $260 per month, which is expensive. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Answer: A
s numerous clinical studies readily demonstrate, type-2 diabetes is easily controlled or reversed in the majority of patients, without the use of pharmaceuticals. One study conducted at UCLA and published in the Dec. 15, 2005 edition of the Journal of Applied Physiology found that more than 50 percent of diabetics were literally cured of type-2 diabetes in three weeks by making the kinds of changes in food choice and exercise that are detailed here.
The pharmaceutical industry, of course, doesn't want you to know diabetes can be readily cured, because they depend on continuation of the disease to bolster sales of their diabetes drugs, most of which cause damage to the liver or pancreas. Diabetes drugs never address the core problem of the disease, either. They simply control symptoms and call it "managing" the disease. Real solutions for diabetes require solving the underlying health problems so that blood sugar metabolism can return to a normal state whereby diabetes no longer exists. It's not that the disease is "cured," it's just that it ceases to exist.

Question: Is it true that diabetes medicinces can impede weight loss? Ever since the doctor changed my meds, I can't lose weight even though I watch my calories and exercise almost daily. Friday, when I complained to the doctor, he said "Of course you can't lose weight, it's the Avandaryl. Diabetics can't lose weight taking Avandaryl." Now he wants to lower my dosage so that I can lose another 20 lbs. but, on the other hand, I have better control of my sugars while on Avandaryl. What do you think?
Answer: It's not that the medicine is so bad, it is that your body can't burn off the sugar that you take in on a daily basis, let alone stored sugar. It is a fine line being able to burn off the sugar and going into low or high blood sugar. Are you taking a ureasulfonimide? I went to Prandin which is not based on a ureasulfonimide and have been loosing weight very slowly, 1/2 pound a month. They have just come out with a new medication that is in essence what I take. It is a combination of the hormone increaser and a metaformin combination which slows the release of sugar from your liver. This combination is similar to what I take as separate medications. This is suppose to not add weight to your system and not cause low blood sugar at times.
Question: How do I know if I'm more insulin resistant or I'm not making enough insulin? When first diagnosed I was put on Avandia and Amaryl, my new doctor suggested I just try Metformin but my blood sugars shot up to over 400, I'm now on Metformin and Avandaryl (a combination of Avandia and Amaryl) but I still don't know if it's a combination of both. I'm going to ask my doctor but I wanted to get a heads up before I do....Can someone explain what each medication is fighting (helping)....Thank you
My A1c numbers are good the last 6 tests have have been 6.5 and one 6.7. I'm just trying to determine what the medications are treating....insulin resistance or low insulin output or a combination of both., an explanation would be helpful.
Answer: When it comes down to it, it really does not matter which you have (its impossible to tell anyway!), the treatment is the same. Its just finding the combination which suits you.
