Bisoprolol
Question: Is Bisoprolol a good medicine to treat migraines and hypertension? or is atenolol better?
Answer: I take Bisoprolol and personally I think it works better than Atenolol. It has less side effects but is equally effective when compared to Atenolol.
Question: can bisoprolol be used to treat hyperthyroidism? I've been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and since then I've been prescribed with carbimazole. After taking it for 3 months,my doctor stopped the carbimazole and gave me 5mg bisoprolol half tablet once a day.
Answer: Bisoprolol is a beta blocking cardiac drug. It is often used to treat hypertension, Coronary Artery Disease, and arrhythmias. It is sometimes used in the treatment of anxiety and hyperthyroidism.
Question: what is the pH of bisoprolol fumarate drug? and whether drug is acidic or basic? I have searched so many literatures and pharmacopeas but didnt found any where? Please help me in this regard if any one knows
Answer: I can't find anything either. My best guess is that it is somewhat acidic because the fumarate portion of the molecule is actually an included molecule of fumaric acid. Look at the links and you will see that is true. However, the larger molecule, bisoprolol, contains a secondary amine which is basic. The overall acidity of the molecule should be close to neutral but on the acid side.
Question: i take Bisoprolol 5mg and i feel half asleep? Can anyone advise an alternative blood pressure medication as Bisoprolol makes me feel drowsy.if you have experience in lowering BP serious answers only.
Answer: see your doctor and adjust the dose or change the medication.
Question: I have just started taking a beta blocker for hypertension(Bisoprolol 5mg)? I am expriencing slight discomfort but my BP is normal. Will it go off as I ger acustomed to the medication or should I seek a second opinion
Answer: I am a 48 year old man. I can assure you that there is nothing to fear. I had started taking this medicine for the last 4 years.
Yes you do feel a little discomfort from the start. You will get accustom to it in 2 days.
Question: My cardiologist prescribed me Concor5/bisoprolol fumerate 2:1 today. Have you ever been prescribed this drug? How is it helping/helped you so far and what was the reason for your doctor to prescribe you this drug?
Is it unusual or is it something 'common'? I was prescribed this after certain symptoms like palpitations and 'fast' heartbeats, being described to my cardiologist.
Does it have any ill effects or long term effects on your health?
Thanks in advance...
Answer: It is a Beta blocker. It blocks noradrenaline and adrenaline in the heart. It causes the heart to beat more slowly and with less force, which means the heart uses less energy and so requires less oxygen. It is very common for people to be on beta blockers.
It can cause masked symptoms of low blood sugar in diabetics. Alcohol can lower blood pressure on this drug. It can cause fatigue and dizziness. It can also mask the symptoms of high thyroid hormone levels. It should be used with caution in patients with COPD, diabetes, CHF, asthma, psoriasis.
As with ALL drugs there are side effects and certain groups that should not take it or need to be monitored carefully if they do take it. If your doctor prescribed it than I'm sure they took into consideration your entire medical history and felt this was the best choice for you. If you have any more questions or concerns than consult your prescribing physician.
Question: what would happen if someone without a heart condition was to take the drug bisoprolol?
Answer: It will unnecessarily reduce the workload on the heart by slowing your heart rate. It's a beta-blocker, don't take it unless you have been prescribed it. Low dose won't do anything dramatic if that's what you are wondering.
Question: whats a good heart rate at rest for someone taking bisoprolol?
Answer: The answer is there isn't one. The reason for taking bisoprolol is to reduce the workload of the heart by slowing it down. This also reduce blood pressure. One's heart rate may go down to 50s and sometimes 40s, but as long as one remain asymptomatic, this is acceptable. The efficacy of the drug is not measured by heart rate, but blood pressure and side-effect (if any).

Question: Can medications to treat high blood pressure, including Bisoprolol Fumarate, Ramipril, and Amlodipine, ...? affect the libido?
If they do, is there anything to do other than be resigned?
Answer: Do you mean libido (sexual desire) or impotence? With regards to impotence, yes the beta-blocker and some diuretics + cimetidine for example can cause ED. People who take anti-hypertensive and other heart medication also usually have issues maintaining erections due to their underlying health problems. Narrowing of the arteries which take blood to the penis can occur due to build up of atheroma in the arteries, this can lead to a reduction in blood supply to the penis. People with diabetes, high cholesterol and blood pressure commonly have problems.
The medication however, won't necessarily reduce the desire to have sex (libido).
Question: Does bisoprolol have an FDA approval in NYHA class 4 heart failure?
Answer: No, the FDA does not make specific indications referencing the NYHA. Depending on whether you have systolic or diastolic failure, Coreg would be a better choice for systolic failure, by the way. If you have have inappropriately fast rates, then a combination of Metoprolol and Coreg would be something to consider.
Good luck.
Question: What medicines cannot be mixed with bisoprolol? Was looking for anyone's experiences of medicine they cannot take while on these beta-blockers?
I've been told Sudafed congestion medicine cannot be mixed with this.
Answer: well, obviously you don't want to take other beta blockers, rifampin is the only medication I could find listed that is not recommended with a beta blocker of any kind.
They tell you not to take psuedophedrine (Sudafed), because it raises blood pressure. (what you take a beta blocker to stop) It doesn't interact with the drug, it simply prevents it from working.
Question: Is taking Bisoprolol 2.5mg daily (because of Tac, safe when pregnant? HI i have had tachycardia for almost two years now, i just found out i am pregnant. My doctor said its okay to take bisoprolol for the first trimester. Isnt the first trimester the most important? Do u think it is safe to continue with the medication or just stop? I have been on this medication for almost two years now.
Answer: It's listed as category "C" for pregnancy. That usually means that there's not enough evidence, one way or the other. As one reference said...
"There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. ZEBETA® (bisoprolol fumarate) should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus."
I'd talk to your doctor and/or pharmacist about possible alternatives.
Question: Bisoprolol for palipations...? I have been getting palpitations for the last 6 months or so. A couple a week at first, now about 4 a day, lasting for 2-3 hours at a time, during which I feel lightheaded and out of breath.
I have had an ECG which picked nothing up, as my heart was beating fine at the time.
My cardiologist has advised that the palpitations are down to early/extra systoles, and has prescribed Bisoprolol.
While this has stopped the palpitations almost completely it leaves me totally exhausted and i have also developed a noticeable tremor.
Are these common side effects? Should I stop taking them?
Are there any other ways to stop the palpitations, as I am only 24 and dont want to be on medication for the rest of my life?
Answer: Fatigue is a common side effect of beta-blockers. Beta-blockers work by slowing down the heart rate. That leads to less oxygen getting to the rest of your body.
Call your doctor and ask if you can decrease the dosage or switch to a different class of drugs without this side effect. Do not discontinue the medication without talking to your doctor.
As for the rest of your life, it depends on what is causing the palpitations. Ask your doctor if lifestyle changes will help, exercise, healthy diet, stopping smoking, etc. Sometimes they make a difference, sometimes they don't. I don't know if it would help or not, but it is worth asking about.
Question: Side Effects of Bisoprolol? I have been taking this Bisoprolol for 2 days now and I am experiencing dizziness when sitting up and standing. I am taking 2.5mg once a day right now which is the lowest dosage. It is not lowering my blood pressure but is regulating my pulse to around 75.
Answer: You are likely experiencing a drop in blood pressure related to the medication. This is called orthostatic hypotension. With you being on the lowest dose, it isn't like you can ask for it to be decreased. I am guessing from reading your question that you are on it for your heart rate, not blood pressure. 75 is perfect.
The best thing you can do is change positions slowly and after standing, allow yourself to stand several seconds before moving to allow your blood pressure to stabilize.
As for other side effects...
Bisoprolol is generally well-tolerated, and side effects are mild and transient. Rare side effects include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, nausea, impotence, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, numbness, tingling, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath or wheezing.
Bisoprolol can aggravate breathing difficulties in patients with asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema. In patients with existing slow heart rates (bradycardias) and heart blocks (defects in electrical conduction within the heart), bisoprolol can cause dangerously slow heart rates and even shock. Bisoprolol reduces the force of contraction of heart muscle and can aggravate symptoms of heart failure. In patients with coronary artery disease, abruptly stopping bisoprolol can suddenly worsen angina, and occasionally precipitate heart attacks. If it is necessary to discontinue bisoprolol, its dosage can be reduced gradually over one to two weeks. Bisoprolol can mask the early warning symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), and should be used with caution in patients receiving treatment for diabetes.
Question: What is the difference between Concor 5mg and Concor-cor 5mg? Both medicine contains 5mg bisoprolol fumarat. Then what is the difference between them?
Answer: No difference. Usually Concor Cor is only 2.5 mg and not 5 mg. Please check the strip once again.
Question: i have artriel fib 3 years im on ramipril digocin bisoprolol furosomide warfarin will i be alright when swine? flu comes soon
Answer: Well it sounds like you have some comorbid cardiac conditions based on your history of atrial fibrillation and the medications you are taking. Therefore you are at higher risk of complications and death from influenza and including H1N1 (Swine flu). It is important for you to be vaccinated when it becomes available, because this has been shown to reduce the risk of complications and death from Influenza in patients like you. I hope this helps.
Question: medicin- what is -bisoprolol ratiopharm for?
Answer: ratiopharm has grown from being a successful German pharmaceutical company, founded in 1974, into a international one. Bisoprolol-ratiopharm is the best selling drug sold of the approximately 750 products that they make.
Its a drug for blood pressure, Bisoprolol blocks the action of the sympathetic nervous system on the heart thus reduces the heart rate. The major manufacturer of this drug is Zebeta, ratiopharm just make a cheaper version.
Question: i want a scintific presentation ( power point ) for bisoprolol or lisinopril thanx?
Answer: i make those professionaly. i would like to know what exactly you need it for (teaching pharmacology or aguest lecture for doctors or just general information for medical students etc).i can be contacted on kontent_writer@yahoo.com or chandan947@rediffmail.com. the charges are very nominal, they vary between 70 to 200 USD for an average presentation.rest of course depends on the kind of data you require.
Question: Doctors: What is the difference between metoprolol and bisoprolol? I took bisoprolol for almost 4 yrs and it was wonderful. For some reason I saw a different doctor and he switched me to metoprolol. I am going back to bisoprolol! the metoprolol caused my pulse to be way too low , like 60 and under all the time and my pressure to be too low, caused heart palps that I never had before and didn't control my heart rate when I'd go up the stairs, etc. bisoprolol works wonders..pulse is great in the 70s and pressure is normal and controls my rate when I go upstairs..no palps..why is this??
i take this medication because i have an "overactive accelerator" in my heart, not for high blood pressure which i have never had.
also a few PVCs now and then...
Answer: Bisoprolol has more selective effects on the body compared to Metoprolol, which has a wider and more general and pronounced effect on the heart.
Question: BISOPROLOL/HCTZ 10MG/6.25MG and Decongestants? I was prescribed Bisoprolol 2 days ago and I have a really severe head cold, to the point where its disrupting my sleep at night. I called the pharmacist to see if i was able to take any medications to help with the symptoms of my cold and she said i could not take anything that has a decongestant in it due to the decongestant will elevate my blood pressure and the bisoprolol is to lower it. So I bought some vicks vapor rub but i'm not sure if this will also cause any complications, I figured that since this was not something that would be inside my body that it might be OK to use, anyone know if this would also cause problems or not? Thanks
Answer: vicks vapor rub would be ok. You also might try Ocean Nasal spray, and a warm wet wash cloth over the nose for added humidity. Milk and sugar help make more mucus so I would minimize that. If there is an allergy component to your problem you could take an antihistamine like claritin (available generic at the General Dollar store for a box of 30 day supply for 4 dollars).
