Compazine
Question: How can i get compazine for nausea at a pharmacy? i don't think its an over the counter medicine. and have to have a prescription, but im emetophobic (fear of vomiting) and really need it. so any idea how i can get it even though i don't have a prescription?
Answer: Are you always nauseous or are you just afraid of becoming nauseous and barfing? This is a prescription drug and you cannot get it any other way.
Frankly, everyone fears barfing. Its a horrid experience and I would rather shave my eyeballs than barf.
If you feel like barfing all the time, there maybe something else wrong and you should see a doctor. if you just worry about maybe having to barf. you are going to have to learn to deal with it.

Question: how can i get compazine or gravol for nausea at a pharmacy? i don't think its an over the counter medicine. and have to have a prescription, but im emetophobic (fear of vomiting) and need one of them. so any idea how i can get it?
Answer: Gravol is just Diphendydrinate, and sold as Tylenol PM and Benadryl. Very over the counter, and every drug store in the world carries it in some form. But, it's possibly addictive if used for prolonged periods, and not a recognized treatment for emetophobia. Instead, you need to see a psychologist and deal with the underlying phobia.
Question: has anyone ever used compazine to stop vomiting? I have OCD, along with a severe fear of vomiting. To overcome the constant worry of vomiting, my psychiatrist perscribed me the pill compazine for percausionary purposes. Has anyone ever use it or hear of it? if so, what are your thoughts on it? thanks so much!
Answer: It works better than phenergan (promethazine). I get BAD migraines so I actually have scripts for both.
I know how you feel about the vomiting. I absolutely HATE to puke.
Question: how long does Compazine stay in the system? i recently got out of the hospital for compazine poisoning. but i still have a stomach ache and i think its still from the compazine. how long will it stay in my system? or why do i still feel sick? also i was taking antibiotics. how long does that stay in my sytem after taking it? (antibiotics for a sinus infection)
Answer: Compazine.... well, this is a bit of a guess, but I'm going to say that traces could remain in your system for 5 or 6 weeks. But I'd guess the vast majority of it should be out of your system in under 1 week. If your body undergoes any sort of assault from poisoning, overdose, etc., it can take awhile for everything to heal back up to "normal." Nobody can give you a precise number of days for that to happen. It's going to depend on your general overall health, how well your liver is functioning, how your nutritional status is, etc. For your purposes, let's say a week or two.
Question: Has anybody ever taken the drug Compazine? The ER prescriped it to me and I'm getting really bad side affects. I'm getting blurred vison and thinking and my head feels very clouded. I think I'm going to die. What should I do?
I didn't want them to give me such a strong drug like that because all I went in for was the flu.
Answer: Compazine is given to you to help you not vomit (I have been on it before). If you don't like how it feels when you take, you can stop at any time. It isn't a required med unless you can not keep ANY food down.
:)
Good luck and I hope you feel better!
Question: Can someone allergic to compazine safely take tramadol?
Answer: I dont see why not. They are two completely different medications. Compazine is an anitemetic, antipsychotic and is used for nausea, vomiting and some psychotic disorders. Tramadol is a central analgesic used for management of moderate to severe pain.
Question: Do anti-emetics like Compazine (Prochlorperazine) work for the norovirus? 10mg pills. Will they keep me from vomiting?
Answer: Compazine may keep you from vomiting, but it will only treat the symptoms of the virus, not treat the virus itself. There are antivirals that can help treat certain viruses, but so far, there aren't any drugs that can cure any virus. When a person gets a virus, like the flu or even the common cold, when a person gets better, it's only because the virus has "run it's course", not because we can cure it.
Question: what happens if you take percocet with compazine? i suffer from migraines and have taken many different meds. i had phenergen but ran out ,but i do have compazine . so i wonder if i can tke my percocet with compazine.
Answer: Yes, you can. It won't do anything adverse at all. I take compazine frequently, and have taken it with percocet.

extreme nausea that comes out of nowhere
and sometimes my head/face/neck twitches like how it did while i was poisoned.
Answer: 1] You can have an overdose, or you may have had an adverse 'reaction' - which was it?
a] if it was an overdose, then a normal dose would be OK in the future
b] if you had what they call an 'extra-pyramiadal reaction' you should never take Compazine again
2] you should not have any permanent effects from it - see your doctor or practitioner
Question: Has anyone ever had an allergic reation to the anti-nausea medication compazine? If so could you please describe your symptoms and what happened to you? thanks for you help
Answer: i have no idea
Question: Why take benadryl with compazine ? I usually take phenergan but my doc told me to take compazine and mg of benadryl....why take benadryl with compazine ? I take these for constant nausea and i have no allergies, never have , so why on earth would he recommend this ?
Answer: Sometimes medications are prescribed for other reasons other than their intended use. These are called off label uses. Prochlorperazine (or Compazine) is also used for the treatment of nausea, and used with diphenhydramine (Or Benadryl) helps your nausea. Just like the medication Vicodin which contains hydrocodone and acetaminophen, both are pain killers but different kinds but when combined, they help control pain better than just one by itself.
Question: Is there anything over the counter that works like compazine?
Answer: If you mean for nausea and vomiting (Compazine has other uses) the answer is no. Compazine is a great med, and works quickly. Sorry I could not be more hopeful. Feel better, see a doctor if it continues.
Question: Will compazine affect the birth control pill? My doctor just prescribed Compazine for my unexplained nausea (I'm fairly positive it's stress related).. I walked out of the office forgetting to ask whether or not it'd impact birth control (I'm on Ortho Tricyclen Lo). My dr. obviously has my medical history and knows I'm on the pill - just making sure there wasn't anything he didn't tell me. Anyone take both compazine and birth control? I plan on waiting to take the med until I can call him tmw, but I was just looking for some feedback..
Answer: there is no known drug interactions between compazine and BC.
The pills can actually cause nausea themselves so that could be the souce.
To get more reasurance you can call any pharmacy and ask the pharmacist.
Question: Has anyone ever taken Compazine for nausea? It's been prescribed for me, but I have to work full-time and it seems to be "Serious" stuff. It warns of dizziness, drowsiness, overheating, etc. (heh - one of the listed side effects is even NAUSEA!)
I'm wondering - if you did take it, how were the side effects? Were you able to work? Did it help you?
Answer: It's my evening pill. I actually call them my "sleepy throw up pills." They knock me out & keep me out for several hours. I'd suggest Zofran, it's works fabulously & has never once made me sleepy. It can be pricey though, so check with your insurance to make sure they cover it.
Question: Has anyone else had a bad reaction to Compazine? the other night i had to be rushed to the ER because i had a bad reaction to Compazine. my jaw was so tensed up and so was my neck. i had to be hooked up to an IV. has anyone else had this experience to this drug?
Answer: It's been documented.
Go to the FDA website and there is a form that you can fill out to report a bad reaction to a drug.
If they get enough of them, they will insist on some studies and changes to labelling.
Question: What is compazine? And what is it prescribed for? Justwondering what it is used for...My co-worker mentioned it 3 times in the last 2 days!! Thanks
Answer: compazine is used for nausea. Also for people who are taking chemotherapy, it's used before the treatment to stop the nausea.
Question: Have any of you had any experience with the medication compazine? What was it prescribed for?
Answer: Yep, I have experience with Compazine...IV, oral and supporitory. It makes me tired but it takes care of my nausea and vomiting. If that is too strong for you, you may want to consider Meclizine or if that isn't enough and not working for the nausea try Zofran but that is super expensive.
It can also be used for anxiety and psychotic disorders but that isn't very common.
From webmd. This medication is used to treat severe nausea and vomiting from various causes (e.g., anti-cancer treatment, migraine headaches, after surgery).
Prochlorperazine is a phenothiazine medication that works by affecting the balance of natural chemicals (neurotransmitters) in the brain to reduce nausea and the urge to vomit.
This medication is not recommended for use in children under 2 years old or during surgery on children.
