Question: dextromethorphan? ok so i did two bottles of delsyum and all the robogels in the thing and the only active ingredient for both of these is dxm i started tripping about an hour and a hlaf later and it was crazy but after the first hour of tripping my hands got so swollen that i oculdnt see my knuckles is this normal when tripping on high doses or not? no it wasnt even close to a first time, but i had only done delsyum once before, zicam gives me crazy rashes and dry skin, and one time swollend hands, but htis time the delsyum and robe made my hands HUGE i oculdnt even make a fist and i was telling my self i was going ot die .

Answer: Never heard of that happening before. I wouldn't suggest doing it again though. Since you had a reaction this time, there is a good chance that next time the reaction will be worse... The swelling most likely means that your blood pressure became extremely elevated, or you had an allergic reaction.

Question: Please, what are the measurements of the amount of dextromethorphan and alcohol to mix? Please, I'm desperate. For years, I've talked circles around friends, family, neighbors, and girlfriends, and all it does is make me, and everyone around me miserable. Intelligence is a gift, but too much is a curse beyond so many others. Recently, I saw the Thanksgiving episode of House, and the patient took a combination of dextromethorphan and alcohol to effectively "dumb" himself down, using the alcohol as a counter to the potential brain damage. Please, I need to know this combination, this is the first hopeful news I have heard in many years. If anyone could help, it would be beyond appreciated.

Answer: If you want to trip on DXM, DO NOT mix it with alcohol. That is fucking retarted, and second of all check the ingredients on the cough syrup/pills that you take to make sure there is nothing you can OD on. If there is only dextromethorphan, it's fine. if there is guaifenesin, you will be fine too, but you will get nauseas. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT, try to trip on any syrup or pills that have acetaminophen or any other ingredient in it than DXM and guaifenesin. Mix it with sprite, you will need about 500-600 mg of DXM to start tripping. Don't go over 900mg though. 600mg is about two 4-oz bottles, or one 8-oz.... be careful

Question: I am looking for a medication that contains ONLY dextromethorphan available in pill/capsule for in Canada? I know that many cough medicines have gotten rid of dextromethorphan from their ingredients because of the potential for abuse. However I am pregnant and breastfeeding it is the only thing I can take. I can't take anything with Guaifenesin. I don't very rarely ever take anything so I don't really know what is available anymore. I know Benylin Dry Cough contains only dextromethorphan but it seems to be only available as a liquid and I have a hard time dealing with liquid medicines. And my hubby is picking it up from work so he kind of needs specific instructions ;-) So if anyone can help me out that would be great!

Question: How does Dextromethorphan interfere with the way MAOIs work? I have been taking Hydrocodone for a disc injury and just realized it is a MAOI drug...before realizing this I took some Robitussin cough syrup, containing Dextromethorphan. Then I noticed that on the Robitussin label it says that I should not have taken the Robitussin if I am taking a MAOI drug.

Answer: I'm no doctor but I have read up on this a bit and I think it dosen't effect your medication but it does shut down your immune system. SO it may help you r cough but leaves you susceptable to catching other colds or viruses in the air.

Question: Can dextromethorphan powder be mixed in a suspension? I participated in a study for spinal cord injury pain and dextromethorphan. It appears to help me. I know my theraputic dose (160mg QID) and I have a titration schedule. I have also located a supplier of DXM in powder form. A.K.A. Crystal Meth. just so you know OK!. and for the question about liquid and meth. hmm i know the answer but i;m not telling you!

Question: What are the effects of dextromethorphan on the thyroid? Let's say, theoretically, my friend has hyperthyroidism. And let's say, theoretically, he wanted to take dextromethorphan (found in Robitussin, etc) recreationally. Would this create any problems?

Answer: As far as I know the only direct impact comes from the bromine (DXM typically comes as a HBr salt). I don't know much about hyperthyroidism, but I have read that you need considerable amounts of bromine (a potentially lethal dose of DXM HBr) to have much effect on people without thyroid issues. Note that I myself have recently taken 1600+mg of DXM HBr and had incredible hunger and body heat issues for two days and it may have been thyroid related. From my brief review of hyperthyroidism, a history of cardiac issues would be a pretty good reason not to take DXM recreationally. Hyperthyroid medications have to be looked at too. Again I'm not familiar with those, but I'm sure there's some potential for dangerous interaction. If your friend is on any such meds, he would do well to compare the effects and metabolic pathway(s) with DXM to see if there's any overlap. Also he might want to skip the meds for a while if that's an option. And I don't know what reports zacho56 is referring to, but it sounds like nonsense to me.

Question: Would i be able to cut a Musinex DM pill to separate the guanifenesin from the dextromethorphan? ? I have a bottle of Mucinex DM tablets ( 60mg Dextromethorphan 1200 guanifenesin ) and i want to take it for a mind-expanding experience (dont hate). But the guanifenesin is harmful and unpleasant in high doses, so im wondering if i could just cut the white side from the yellow side?

Question: Can I use Robitussin DM which contains dextromethorphan as a cough depressant, to make Purple Syrup? i need to know if its not strong enough compared to promethazine. basically asking if dextromethorphan will do the trick and work since i cant get promethazine because its prescription cough syrup.

Answer: You can do whatever you want, but it's not purple drank without an antihistamine and an opiate. DXM won't be the same, but it's plenty powerful if you take enough.

Question: Can you take something with Dextromethorphan in it and Tylenol PM together? I didn't know if you could or not, I have a horrible cough and a high fever and i haventbeen sleeping good at all. But i know Dextromethorphan is harmful if combined with certain medications.. help?

Answer: 100% pure in powder form is not sold in any retain in US. However, you get DXM only main ingredient in syrup or liquid gel form. In CVS as well as other popular pharmacy you can find 118 ml 'Tussin' syrup which has about 354 mg of DXM for around $5.00. Robotussin brand will run for $7.50 but the generic form will cost you $5. You also get in generic liquid gel form which is a bit expensive ... each liqugel has 15mg & a bottle contains 20 of them (300 mg total) which will cost around $5. Robotussin one again cost around $8. In CVS you get the generic brand called Sav-on depending on your location. Happy robotripping.

Answer: Anything with DM after the name is an indicator. And it depends on what kind of mushrooms you're talking about. If it's the ones with psilocybin that depends on the chemistry of the soil where it grew and your body's chemistry. God bless.

Answer: There are plenty of cold products that have no dextromethorphan in them. Just read the labels.

Answer: And while you're being introspective, large doses of dextromethorphan are depressing your lungs and, if that goes on too long, can make you stop breathing. I hope the introspection is worth the risk. BTW the first person who commented was right. Dextromethorphan abuse is like taking an overdose of codeine. Since I've never treated a patient who OD'd on dextromethorphan, and I've treated a countless number of those who have abused PCP, I can't say for sure if they're the same. My guess is no, b/c I can confidently say treating a patient whacked out on PCP is nothing like any other drug OD I've treated, not even LSD. PCP users have to get an injection of succinylcholine, or some other agent that paralyzes the skeletal muscular system. That's the only way to get them under control so you can administer further treatment.

Question: How come its now big news that kids are getting high on dextromethorphan? Kids have been talking about Robotrippin' and DXM for decades, and all of a sudden everyone acts like its big news. You mean the police and the medical community really had no idea that this has been going on for 30+ years?

Answer: DXM blocks dopamine reuptake at the receptor site. As for diphenhydramine I have no idea, but it certainly does something interesting to your synapses.

Question: Is there codeine or morphine in Dextromethorphan H? I was just precribed Dextromethorphan H couch medincine and was wondering if there was codeine or morphine in it?

Answer: The H is probably hydrobromide. Since I've never heard of any product containing DXM and codeine or morphine, I'm going to go with no. The medication is probably just a concentrated form of an OTC DXM med.

Answer: Higher blood pressure does translate to increased bleeding, but that's not something you should worry about. It is not a blood thinner.

Question: Can overdosing on dextromethorphan damage the brain and cause disorders? If someone drank a bunch of cough syrup, say it was Robotusin, this is called Robo-tripping, can it lead to a psycological disorder or damage brain cells? What would happen if someone went to a doctor and said they did that before, not recently, would they get in trouble for it?

Answer: Doctors have people come in with a history of drug use all the time. The are required to protect the patients privacy. Nobody will report you, unless you go in high and then drive off (making a danger to yourself and others). Any drug can cause brain disorders if taken in large dosages. Most people's brains can adapt to a little damage. A doctor can do examination to see how much, if any, permanent damage you have.
