Question: Concerned parents: Did you know the flu vaccine Fluvirin is NOT approved for use with small children? That's right. According to the info booklet that comes with the vaccine regarding contraindictions (which is available online here: http://search.novartis.com/main/index.html?qt=BLA+1750&qp=site%3Awww.novartisvaccines.com&x=10&y=9 ) the monovalent H1N1 and the trivalent seasonal flu vaccine made by Novartis called Fluvirin is not approved to be given to children under the age of 4. I see SO many parents asking, Should my baby be vaccinated for the flu? You think MDs have probably already exercised their "off shelf usage" legal rights as physicians and recommended it for even babies anyway?
page 4, section 1: "FLUVIRIN is not indicated for children less than 4 years of age because there is evidence of diminished immune response in this age group."
Wise Duck: So let me get this straight. Fluvirin SHOULD be used with kids under age 4? And the other vaccines are made so RADICALLY DIFFERENT that there's no problem giving it to kids under the age of 4. If you know so much about WHY this is the case, instead of telling me how much I clearly don't understand, why don't you tell us all in detail how it all makes so much sense?
Wise Duck: Lame answer: "For other vaccines where the infectious agent is known, this is not a problem." Yeah. Real clear and VAGUE.
Wise Duck: Now confound INFLUENZA vaccine (which is totally unnecessary given that the human immune system has proven capable of even fighting H1N1 in most cases) with something like polio vaccine. Totally inappropriate analogy. Nice convoluted analogy!
Lame Dick: You say, " In short, immunologists know what they are doing." That's about the most vague and unclear claim I have ever heard!
Answer: There are 6 manufacturers of seasonal flu vaccine this year. Vaccines made by CSL Biotherapies, GlaxoSmithKline and ID Biomedical should be used in people older than 18 years. Novartis vaccine (Fluvirin) should be used in people 4 years and older. FluMist manufactured by MedImmune (the one that's sprayed in nostrils) can be used in population 2-49 years old. The vaccine manufactured by Sanofi (Fluzone) can be used in small children 6 months and up. You can check CDC website for more details: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/qa/vaxsupply.htm
Question: Pregnant and thinking of getting the swine flu jab? Pregnant women will be offered the jab first. 'Experts' say it's the same as the seasonal flu jab, but with a different virus. Well Novartis (drug company) say on their website: It is NOT KNOWN whether FLUVIRIN (seasonal flu jab) can cause FETAL HARM when administered to a pregnant woman or can AFFECT REPRODUCTION CAPACITY!

What do you think of that? Check this in a week's time and it'll be gone; due to some violation I'm sure.
Read the drug companies' own studies and it often contradicts what the 'experts' say. Docs are fed lots of positive info from the drug cos, so they make maximum profits. Docs don't come home after a hard day's work and research themselves. The onus is on you!
Answer: i wouldn't have it if pregnant
Question: will fluvirin stop or help against swine flu? IM doing research and i need a lil help. iv been told by some special friends that it might help.
Answer: Although it will most likely kill the Influenza virus, it is not known to kill the Avian flu virus which is part of the H1N1 or Swine flu. Otherwise, it would be broadcast on the news as often as they do with things related to the Swine flu.
Question: swine flu shot is mostly for pregnant woman and children? is it required for every person to get the fluvirin shot and swine flu shot or is it fine to just get a regular flu shot?
Answer: no shot is required, just recommended. the flu shots, and swine flu shots, are given to the elderly, children and pregnant women first because they are at a higher risk due to lower immune system functioning. the regular flu shot is just fine.
