Hydrocortisone Cream
Question: Hydrocortisone Cream? Hydrocortisone is an anti-inflammatory drug that stabilizes lysosomal membranes. Can someone please xplain how this effect reduces cell damage and inflammation. Have you or someone close to you ever had occasion to need an anti-inflammatory? For what type of condition or injury? Did the stabilization of lysosomal membrane have an effect on pain?

Question: what is the best treatment for eczema on and around the eyelids, besides hydrocortisone cream? It goes away with hydrocortisone cream but i don't want to keep using that since it is a type of topical steroid and your body can become dependent or immune to it.
Answer: Eucerin is a lotion you should try, my son has it bad around hislips this medicine takes it all out of his face. I think it is being overlooked. Try it I guarantee it works.
Question: Can I put hydrocortisone cream on my 18 month old son? My son has a rash, i looked on the net to find what kind of rash it was, but i can't find it. I was wondering if i could put Hydrocortisone cream on it. If it is safe for a small child? The rash turns red when he gets hot and has small white bumps, almost like small blisters. It spreads to different spots then dissapears. But when he gets hot it comes back. It's not a heat rash.
Answer: Sounds like you should see a doctor to find out what it is, and maybe make sure your son doesn't overheat. Are you *sure* it's not a heat rash, considering it's caused by heat?
In the meanwhile though, yes, you can use a little hydrocortisone if it's not on something he'll stick in his mouth or eyes (like, don't use it on his hands). In the *long* run, corticosteroids (like hydrocortisone (=over the counter) and triamcinolone (=prescription only)) will make the skin thinner which can cause problems, so if his rash keeps coming back, you really need to see the doctor to see whether there is something better you can do. Maybe make sure all his clothes are cotton, or maybe switch washing powder or something.
Question: Can I put hydrocortisone cream on my face? I've tried many things, but my skin is still dry and flaky. I've even put vaseline on my face at night hoping that would work, but still, nothing has helped. I do have acne, so I was wondering if hydrocortisone cream would be too much or not. Please help:)
Answer: I agree with the other recommendation to see a dermatologist. Hydrocortisone is a topical steroid and it makes the skin very tender. It is classified as an anti-inflammatory and will do nothing to help with dry skin. Vaseline clogs up the natural pores on your skin and will increase the possibility of an acne outbreak.
Question: hydrocortisone cream? is it ok to put over the counter like cortizone 10 on labia ?
Answer: NO!!! all I can say is Ouch that would sting, if you have vaginal itching from a condition such as a yeast infection then try monistat or another over the counter cream that is made for the vaginal area
Question: Hydrocortisone cream on inside of labia minora safe? My labia minora (the inside bit of my vagina hood?) has been inflamed for over a week.
On the hydrocortisone cream it says do not contact with genitals, but it is the only thing that will get the swelling down! Do you think this is safe?
Answer: No it is not safe, the cortisone creme is not intended it come in contact with genitalia
Question: i had a rash on my face and the Dr prescribed me hydrocortisone cream? i have a rash from soap again so i asked my dad to go to the chemist yesterday and he came home with canesten hydrocortisone cream which also contains clotrimazole. is this ok to use?
i have just bought some tea tree soap for its anti-bacterial properties
i have used soap for many years and only had this rash twice now-i do usually use sensitive soap (i.e simple/dove)
Answer: The cream you need is a hydrocortisone 0.1% as anything else on your face would be too strong. The pharmacist needs to know what part of your body you are using the cream on. Canesten isn't suitable for the face.
Question: Can using a 1% otc hydrocortisone cream everyday 1x per day really be dangerous or thin your skin out? I know people say hydrocortisone can thin out skin but I feel that over-the-counter use to control eczema for a few days should be safe. I prefer to use this instead of protopic as it as a black box cancer label. However, I don't want to risk thinning out my skin after say, 25 years. I am unable to find any articles regarding over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream - only prescription strength steroids (which do indeed thin out skin).
Answer: Hydro cortical steroids are known to cause skin atrophy of the skin.. meaning they brake down fat cells causing a "thinning" of the face. they are also known to change pigmentation of skin in colored people. However, such a low dosage used moderately will take YEARS to have any ill effect, and that is assuming you use it everyday for years.
Question: can you have an allergy to a hydrocortisone cream? my 2 year old daughter was prescribed a 1% hydrocortisone cream for a patch of dermatitis on her knee i was advised to use it twice a day , however the rash a spread all over both legs and up onto her arms , im wondering if its a reaction to the cream or is it something other than dermatitis any help please.
Answer: Anyone can have an allergy to anything. Does the rash resemble the original patch of skin irritation? If not then it probably is a reaction to the cream. If it does, it seems it was a misdiagnosis and it may be a fungal based skin problem.
Your best bet is to go back to your doctor anyway. I hope it all works out.

Answer: hydrocortisone cream will not cure acne..this cream is used to temporarily relieve the feeling of irritation/itching..
Question: Hydrocortisone cream? My vagina has been very itchy lately and I don't know why. I've tried used vagisil and it doesn't seem to help much. Now I'm thinking about using this anti-itch hydrocortisone cream I bought today. Has anybody ever used it down there? It says it's ok for external genital, feminine itching.. Also does anybody else experience, or has anyone ever experienced a very itchy vagina? I'm fairly certain I don't have an STD, but the itch is driving me insane. I don't have insurance and I can't afford a check up, and I haven't been able to make it to a clinic or anything. I'm thinking about getting on birth control kind of soon, do you think that may help with the itching and other problems I've been having down south? I'm not trying to gross anyone out with the itching and whatnot, but it's seriously driving me insane. Please only serious answer. Thanks ahead of time for your responces. :)
Answer: Hydrocortisone is an anti inflamatory cream or ointment. It will relieve itching redness and sometimes pain. It is not normal to be itching in that area constantly and may be a yeast infection. If it is a yeast infection you would need an anti fungal not an anti inflamatory. It is important that you get that taken care of as it can lead to a UTI, (urinary tract infection) which will cause much more pain and irritation. If you still don't take care of it at that point it can turn into UROsepsis, and infect your entire system, which could lead to a sudden drop in blood pressure and septic shock. If septic shock isnt treated immediately it can lead to death.
Question: How long before hydrocortisone cream clears my rash? My doctor prescribed me some hydrocortisone cream for a facial rash I have. My rash is a ton of tiny bumps that are itchy, swollen, and red. How long before this is completely gone (including the bumps) if I apply the cream twice daily as directed?
Answer: It will take a week or two for sure.
Question: Is Hydrocortisone cream surposed to cause skin to crack badly and sting? I have a rash on my back and have been given hydrocortisone cream by my GP for this. I am aware that it will thin my skin, however it has caused my skin to crack badly and become very tight after only two applications. I surpose the rash will fall off when this dead skin comes off but it is very uncomfortable. Is this normal?
Answer: No, that is not normal. You have very sensitive skin. Stop using the hydrocortisone. Call your doctor and see if he or she has something for sensitive skin. The hydrocortisone is a mild steroid. Its should help with the redness and itching, if there is any. It will also reduce an auto-immune response. Its suppose to make you more comfortable and help your body heal. But its not doing that so it time to try something else. You may also ask your doctor to see if it is possibly a fungal infection. Then you just need a different cream and that will solve the issue. Hope this helps!
Question: could you use hydrocortisone cream for acne? Well the hydrocortisone cream is for exzema, but can it cure acne. on the bottle it says 2.5% idk if that really changes anything. Thanks for help. NO rude answers please!
Answer: No it could irritate your skin if you have acne
Question: Can hydrocortisone cream cause anxiety? I have been using hydrocortisone cream off and on for a few weeks now for itchy ecxema. I have had anxiety issues for about 7 years now but have noticed they have gotten quit a bit worse since using the cortisone cream. Is it possible for it to cause anxiety? Thanks!
Answer: Cortisone can definitely affect a person's mood and emotions. However, it would be very unusual that the amount of cortisone absorbed through the skin would be enough to heighten anxiety, but its possible if you are spreading it over a large area and rubbing it thoroughly into the skin.
Question: How can I stop unbearable sunburn itching? Is hydrocortisone cream bad for sunburn? I revieved a severe sunburn 2 days ago. It hurt pretty bad, and still does but that's nothing compared to the itching. I am taking codeine for the pain which doc reccomended but it doesn't work that well and I am wondering if that might be causing some of the itch. I am also using some "After sun rescue balm" made by clinique that had vitamin E, peppermint, and barley as advertised ingerdients. But no aloe which I have read is excellent. The itching and pain get way worse after putting this on so idk if I am going to use it anymore. After putting that on and experiencing worsening pain and itching I decided on using hyrdocortisone cream which helped a little. I am wondering what else I can do to stop the itching because I am going insane and soon I'm going to do something stupid like slicing myslef open with my nails but I'm afraid that even then I'll just make the pain worse and still have the incessant itch. Please help, I'm losing my mind.
Answer: For a quick fix before you do yourself any permanent injury, place an ice cube on the burn and move it around. The shock of the cold will stop the itch dead. Be warned though, this only works as long as the skin remains cold.
Then go to the chemists and pick up any of the excellent aloe vera gel products. As close to 100% pure as you can get it. And just slather that on...pretend you're buttering toast, and you just LOVE butter. Replace as often as needed for itch relief. In the beginning this may be as much as once every 30 minutes. Your skin is itching so badly because your damaged skin is so dry. You need to replace as much moisture as your skin can take. This means drinking a lot of water as well. I suggest a 500 ml glass every hour.
Then, when your skin has recovered somewhat by losing much of it's redness, or has begun to peel (in a couple of days) replace the aloe vera gel with vitamin A, D & E cream. All of these vitamins promote skin health. There are super-absorbent creams that contain all of them. The most important for skin repair is the Vitamin A, so if all you can find is a lotion with this, then use that, and take a Vitamin E supplement instead. I don't recommend anyone taking a Vitamin D supplement, as it is very easy to take toxic levels of this if you don't know what you're doing. Instead you could buy milk or juice that is fortified with Vitamin D, and drink that instead.
And from now on, do not ever go out in the sun this summer again without a high SPF sunscreen on. Your skin is going to be prone to easy damage for a long time. Give it a real chance to heal properly. Do you know that every burn at a young age promotes the chance of developing malignant skin cancer later in life?
Question: Is Anti-itch Hydrocortisone cream good to use for athletes foot? I have severe itching and in between my toes, they are extremely swollen with blisters so I needed to go to Rite Aid and buy some foot cream and I found some Anti-Itch and rash cream. The brand is the Rite Aid Brand and its called HYDROCORITSONE CREAM. What does the word Hydrocoritsone mean? Would this be a perfect type of cream to use for itching between my toes and sore toes?
Answer: No, you need athlete's foot cream, or generic form is Clotrimazole cream.
It really works, but the hydrocortisone isn't gonna help much...
Question: can I use Cortaid cream 1% hydrocortisone cream for the itch of a yeast infection? I have a very bad yeast infection I am unable to get medication until tomorrow but I cannot handle this and I am wondering if I can use cortaid anti itch cream for the itching. Its says you can use it on your anal but it doesnt say anything about your vagina. Please no crazy answer. If you cant answer my question just dont say anything at all. Thanks in advance.
Answer: I've tried before, it doesn't help. It just makes it burn worse. Try letting cool water run over your vagina for tonight (using a shower head or laying down in the tub), but don't expect a whole lot of relief. The best option would be to go to a 24 hour pharmacy like Walgreens/CVS or an all night grocery store/supermarket like Wal-Mart and just grab some Vagisil for the itching and Monistat for the yeast infection.
Question: I used Hydrocortisone cream on my babys face for a few months due to eczema? He now has little thread veins on his face, i have stopped using it but am worried they will never go away- does anyone know what i can do.
I used the cream on his face on Doctors orders as i know this is not the norm. Any advice welcome? Thanks D
Answer: They will go away as the skin thickens up again I think. I had to use it around my eyes (obviously when I was older than that) and mine went away.
Dont use it on faces unless you absoloutely have to!
you're baby will be fine, the skin will repair itself just dont use the stuff on those areas (or face in general because of thin skin) anymore if you can avoid.
