Meridia
Question: Meridia??? Has anyone taken meridia? What were the results? I have a prescription for it, but it costs $150 and I dont know if its worth the money.
Answer: Exercise does wonders
Question: How long does Meridia take to make you feel full? I am just wondering if anyone else has taken Meridia and would like to know when it starts to work? Is it the kind that takes a couple of days for it to go through you system or is it right away? I have only taken it for two days and really feel like they pills are not working? I know they help with supressing your apetitie, so I was just wondering when that might kick in.
Thanks everyone.
Answer: I am currently taking Meridia. I have taken it for 4 months and have lost 20 lbs. I have to say that at first, I had the same reaction. I did not feel that it worked. Honestly, I still feel that way a lot of the time. BUT, think about it, I have lost 20 lbs. so it must be doing something! I agree with everything else out there that states you have to change your eating habits and exercise. I have always eaten "healthy", well balanced diet, not a lot of sweets, not a lot of carbs, lots of chicken and veggies, etc. I have always tried to get at least 20 min. of activity a day (walking or whatever). My problem was the amount I ate.
I thought that Merdia would just make me not eat. Not true. What it has done for me is make me realize that I was eating too much, even if it was healthy! With Meridia, I still get hungry, but I am able to say no to food and choose to only put half of the amount of food on my plate than I normally would. Also, my doc told me that 3500 calories = 1 pound. He said if you just cut out 500 calories a day, you would lose 1 pound a week. Now that makes sense and sounds doable! Also, I do make it a point (frozen meals can be costly, but it works) to eat a granola bar for breakfast or slim fast shake (180 calories) and a frozen meal at lunch (Smart Ones are my fav. - fill me up and taste really good - average 300 calories). That's only 480 calories so far! Then I feel fairly comfortable eating a sensible but good dinner. He said that I was probably eating 1800 calories a day, and that if I wanted to loose weight to cut that by at least 500 calories a day. So, I try to keep my max for the day 1200. I am way to lazy to count calories, ( hince the dedication to granola bars and frozen meals), but I at least try to be concious of it. Somehow it just clicked. Just being concious of it, makes a difference for me. Seriously, just about the time I get frustrated and say that I haven't lost any weight for the month, I seem to somehow loose a couple of pounds in a week. I seem to average about 5 lbs. a month. I know, I know, doesn't seem like much. I can't complain though, at least I'm losing it!
I do want to stress too that when I don't walk or do some sort of exercise for 20 to 30 minutes a few times a week, I really see no difference in weight loss. I do think that the exercise is a real boost and that if I were to do more of it, I would really see the true benefits of Meridia.
I started out on 10mg a day. Every time I went for my blood pressure check everything was fine, so I asked my doc to up my dose to 15mg a day. So far, so good.
Good luck and I really hope this helps. Don't lose faith. It will work if you work too. I'm assuming that you hit a point of desperation (I know I did) in order to go to your doc and start taking an RX to lose weight. Just make that switch turn in your head that this is the time to really see what your made of and what you can accomplish with a little help. I'm almost sure you can do it. Sometimes I feel that my weight loss is due to my changes and choices, not the drug (but I'm not willing to find out just yet :)
Good LUCK!
Kerri
PS Started out at 183, now at 163 (wow what a difference in my face that makes)!
Question: How much Meridia do you need for it to be effective? Meridia is a weight loss pill. Has anyone taken it before that can answer the question?
Answer: Pharmaceutical matter. Physicians do not consume all the medicines / drugs they prescribe.
Question: Meridia? How fast did it work for you? How much did you lose? :)? I just got mine. I took my first pill today. How long does it take to work? And how much weight can I expect to lose in about, 2 months, maybe 3? Just curious. How much did you lose on the Meridia pill, and how long did it take you to lose that amount? And does anyone have any suggestions on what to eat to lose weight? Thank you! :)
Answer: 5 lbs in 1 month
Question: I would like to know if anyone has taken the diet aid called, Meridia? What is your opinion about it? I would like to know if anyone has taken the diet aid meridia? What is your opinion about it? Did it work? Did you exsperience any side effects? Over all your opinion?
Answer: It doesn't work. there are no magic pills to lose weight just old fashioned had work and eating the right foods. Don't waist your time or money when your going to end up having to start over again eating right and exercising.
Question: Is it okay to take meridia with buproprion (wellbutrion). Are they harmfull if taken togther? I am taking Wellbutrion, yet I was taking Meridia. I miss the effects I had with Meridia, that I do not get with Wellbutrion. I would like to take them together. I am not taking these medications for the same reasons. I took Meridia for weight loss and no am taking Wellbutrion for depression. Would like to know if taking both of them would be okay.
Answer: The use of MERIDIA in combination with other CNS-active drugs, particularly serotonergic agents, has not been systematically evaluated. Consequently, caution is advised if the concomitant administration of MERIDIA with other centrally-acting drugs is indicated
well bupropion is not a seratonergic drug but
it has been shown to indirectly enhance the firing of serotonergic neurons, via activation of downstream norepinephrine flow.
well seems confusing..ask ur doc......
Question: if i take meridia and eat nothing for a month, about how much weight will i lose? I've taken meridia before and have lost weight. It really just makes you not want to eat. So, if I combine that and exercise, while not eating, I figured it should work well.
Answer: Wrongo. You'll actually go into starvation mode and your body will start to store fats in weird places.
You can't run on empty, either, so you won't be working out when you're fainting.
Keep eating a balanced diet but lower the calorie count by increasing your fruit and veggie intake and cutting out sweets and junkfood. It's easy to stay full on 1200 calories a day and it's easy to go hungry on 3000. You just have to make the RIGHT food choices.
Question: is there a doctor who will prescribe meridia in Aurora, CO? I'm trying to lose weight and the only thing that has worked for me in the past is Meridia. I just moved to Aurora, CO from NYC and it seems like I cant find a doctor that accepts health insurance and could prescribe Meridia. (they are all out of pocket practices) can anybody help?
Answer: I love meridia. In 3 months, with out doing 1 bit of exercise, I lost 22lbs. I know if I would have walked a couple of days a week or some little bit of exercise, I would have lost more weight, but I think that's pretty good for not doing anything. Unfortunately, I do not know who might prescribe meridia/reductil in Aurora, CO. I am in Springfield, MO and I also do not have any prescription for meridia, I was never prescribed it. But I purchase meridia/reductil online with reliable overseas pharmacy, http://www.trustgeneric.com/prices.php?aff_id=73755&sub=14 It is rather expensive, but I do not wanna quit. I want to lose another 48 pounds. Good luck.
Question: What is the difference between phentermine and meridia? I am wondering if one diet pill is better than the other or are they both the same?
Answer: there isn't much difference, they are both CNS stimulants and work by decreasing your appetite.
Question: How much weight did you lose on meridia? Im 20 years old currently obese and I got put on the 15mg pills. How much weight did you lose? How much weight can I expect to lose since im so young? I know it's easier to lose weight at a younger age than older. Ive lost like 15 lbs in almost a month already. Im not exercising or even dieting. Just eating half of what I used to. Will this continue or can i expect it to slow down?
Answer: I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.
First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...
This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.
However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace dot com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards full. Now this doesn't mean you have to follow my foot steps but I've successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.
Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.
Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.
Question: Is it safe to take Chantix (smoking cessation drug) and Meridia simultaneously? Is it safe to take Chantix (smoking cessation drug) and Meridia simultaneously? I am on Chantix (beginning week 4 tomorrow, should be on it 12 weeks) and have a prescription for Meridia. They both affect the brain. Chantix blocks receptors that give you a dopamine reward when you smoke and Meridia is said to "affect appetite control centers of the brain".
Answer: Meridia is among other things a dopamine reuptake inhibitor, and also affects some other neurotransmitters the activity of which could also potentially be affected by Chantix. There is also some possibility that Meridia, like other SSRI's, causes suicidal ideation, which is a known problem with Chantix. It seems to me that you should consult your doctor and pharmacist before combining the drugs and if your doctor agrees consider waiting until you've finished the Chantix to start on the Meridia. I've used Chantix myself and know that it does some weird things, no reason to push things if you don't have to.
Question: Can you combine 10mg of Meridia and Phendimetrazine 35mg, or will that really send you over the top? ? I am currently taking Meridia prescribed by my MD. I am considering a weight loss clinic that prescribes 35mg. Phendimetrazine to be taken 3 times daily. Which would be achieve weight loss faster, Merida, Phendimetrazine alone or both? Obviously I don't want to OD!
Answer: i would say that since both of these are weight loss medicines with ephedrines in them (or some form of them) i would not advise taking them together. it looks like according to those, there would be an interaction.
see links below from WebMD. these are the drug sheets. you could also ask your pharmacist or physician about it as well.
Question: Can I take 5mg of Meridia AND 8mg of Ephedrine HCL? I have been on Meridia for a week not and not seeing much results ( to lose weight) I have found some Ephedrine HCL in my cupboard that I had forgotten I had. Can I take both? Since I take the Meridia in the morning should I take the Ephedrine in the evening? Just looking to see if anyone else has taken the meds together.
Answer: Ephedrine (ECA stack) has always been the most effective by itself. Honestly I don't see the point of taking an appetite supressant at the same time as Ephedrine. The ECA will suppress your appetite enough that you shouldn't need any further help in that department. ECA does more than just supress so if I were in your situation I'd take it first until it was gone and then go back on meridia, or depending on how much ephedrine you have, use the meridia when you're cycling off ephedrine (ie, 5 days ephedrine, 2 days meridia, rinse repeat, or 3 weeks ephedrine 1 week meridia, etc)
Question: My doctor is considering prescribing me meridia for weight loss is this good or is there something better? I read a few reviews of the side effects and am a little concerned she mentioned this one and another one she might put me on but I cant remember the name of the other one I was just wondering if there was another weight loss pill that maybe didn't have as harsh of side effects.
I used to way 175 and I decided I didn't want to be that misserable anymore I would just eat subway no condiments, and smoothie king I was working out several hours a day swimming, light weights lots of reps, eliptical for 45 min. I got down to 130 slowly decreased the excersise to get to maintenace and watched what I ate I went up to 135-140. I was comfortable with that because I am latina naturally curvy, hips, thighs etc. Well I managed to stay there for two years in august of last year is was like I hit a wall I went from 140 to weighing 200 lbs. by december. I have been increasing my work out cutting carbs, no sodas, I have been cycling 3 days aweek for 2 hrs and hicking 2 days a week for 3 hrs. I am slightly feeling results I eat 3 solid meals a day it is hard to count calories because my boss buys me breakfast usually from MCD's so I get the fruit and yogurt parfait, I usually do a salad for lunch with low fat or fat free. and for dinner I try to grab a meat with some veggies.
Answer: I have gained weight due to a thyroid issue and have a horrible time losing weight. Meridia's side effects are horrible. They weren't worth it to me. Ask about a diuretic (water pill prescription), get plenty of exercise and drink water. It will be a slower process but it's better than not making it to the bathroom in time.
Question: How well does the weight loss pill Meridia work? Are there any concerns besides possible high blood pressure?
Answer: Yikes, that is a pretty big thing! It is made by a big pharma (Abbott) and is full of chemicals that are really bad for you. It is just not worth it!
I have been using a natural supplement the past 3 months and it works really well. It has a type of seaweed in it that targets belly fat, another ingredient (cactus) that stops cravings and 3 other ingredients. And it is stimulant free. I would try something like this before even considering a prescription drug. You can read more on their site and watch some videos https://www.you-be-slim.com.
I also started doing light running and light weights which really helped speed things up. Cut out a fair bit of breads as I was overloading on bread.
Good luck with everything :)

Question: How much weight can you lose with 5mg of meridia? i'm being prescribed 5 mg of meridia and i was wondering if anyone has taken it before and the success they have had with it
Answer: You can't just take something and expect to lose weight, unfortunately that isn't how it works. You still have to keep a good diet and run a lot. HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) is a good way to lose weight.
Question: How did Meridia work for you? I want to try meridia and have read lots about it online. However, I can't find a lot of success stories. Have you taken meridia, what dosage and how did it work for you? I was just prescribed 5mg and I'm not sure if that'll be enough. Tell me your stories and where did you find it the cheapest. THANKS!!!
Answer: Pills never work and are just a gimmick the only true way to lose weight is diet/exercise
Question: Meridia Diet Pill,How Long Does It Take To Work ? Yes,I was perscribed Meridia.Iv'e decided to try it because of stubborn 45lbs.I have to lose because of joint pain.Just how long will it take for it to take effect? And how much does it curb your appietite? Thanks for your reply!
Answer: I am on this too and am curious of how long it takes. I have been on it for like 5 days.. It is a shame, you ask a simple question and you have people who don't even talk about Meridia answer and try to get you to look at something else. I hope someone else who KNOWS meridia can answer!
Question: What has been your experience with Meridia? I've just started taking it and I'm wondering if it worked for other people. Did you need to change your lifestyle at all (for example, did you notice a greater effect with more excercise or eating certain foods)?
Answer: It really is all about calories in and calories out. Taking something like Meridia is unnecessary. Eat a healthy diet and get plenty of exercise.
Question: how does meridia increase blood pressure? meridia (sibutramine) is said to increase blood pressure why? what happens ?
Answer: It's an amphetamine-like drug and has effects similar to adrenaline. It also increases heart rate.
