Question: im taking fluoxetine and pantoprazole what are the sides effects? i got an allergic reaction all over my body after 4 days of taking it what should i do?

Answer: I think it´s not an interaction between these two drugs but you´re probably allergic to pantoprazole, I suggest you stop taking pantoprazole if that´s the drug you took before the allergic reaction ocurred and tell it your doctor as soon as you can.

Question: Effects of Long term use of pantoprazole? Does anyone know the effects long term use of pantoprazole & other PPI's have on the body.
Can these effects just develop after a few months of use or do they only start when you begin taking the medication?
Answer: Hi:
Check outMedlinePlus below for basic info. Also, your GP can help with specific symptoms. However, an extract from Drug Digest is:
"What side effects may I notice from taking pantoprazole?
Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:
•fever or sore throat
•redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth
•skin rash, itching
•unusual bleeding or bruising
•unusual weakness or tiredness
•yellowing of the eyes or skin
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
•diarrhea
•dizziness
•dry skin
•headache
•nausea/vomiting
•stomach pain or gas
•tiredness
What should I watch for while taking pantoprazole?
It can take several days of therapy with pantoprazole before your stomach pains improve. Check with your prescriber or health care professional if your condition does not improve, or if it gets worse. You can take antacids for the occasional relief of stomach pain unless your prescriber or health care professional tells you otherwise."
Question: I'm having to take a perscription drug called pantoprazole. is there some over the counter remidys i can take? i was in the hospital a month ago for gastritis pancreatic. ( I know i can's spell, oh well). I don't have insurance and had to pay like 120 bucks for my prescription. i need to know what natural or over the counter substitutes can i find. thank you.
Answer: Pantoprazole is used to treat GERD. There are a few herbs that are used to treat this condition. They are:
* Acorus calamus, Sweet Flag
* Elettaria cardamomum, Cardamon
* Filipendula ulmaria, Medowsweet
* Zingiber officinalis, Ginger
The cheapest solution is to buy some ginger at your local health food store and drink ginger tea a few times a day. A better but slightly more expensive solution is to go to a qualified herbalist and have them make you a tincture out of some or all of the above herbs.
Question: if I miss 2days of taking pantoprazole ?--will I do any damage ? I let my refill run toolong before calling for the next refil, now I have to wait at least 2--3 days, is this bad ???
Answer: You'll be fine, you might have some bad heartburn.
Question: what is different between an ordinary pantoprazole & s (-) pantoprazole ?
Answer: I believe that it is the same medicine. This is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces acid in your stomach.
s(-) may just be referring to the active stereoisomer of the compound.
In nature our receptors can only accept one of the stereoisomers and not its mirror image. This is just plain organic chemistry.
pantoprazole would have both (+) and (-) forms and only the (-) form is the active form of the drug. It is chemical nomenclature that describes how the chemical entity will rotate light in a spectrophotometer. They are mirror images of each other in 4 dimensions.
I hope that I have not confused you.
Question: what about taking tramacet with pantoprazole sodium ec is there any side effects?
Answer: Please note that the best way to find out if you should mix any type of medication is to consult your doctor.
I recently took tamacet for the pain in my back, and I have to say it was the worse experience I have ever had with any medication. I was not taking any other type of medication, simply taking the tramacet, and I had hallucinations, I had a hard time breathing, I was shaking, I was sick, and not to mention very dizzy. This lasted all night, right into the morning.
I am not sure if you have been taking this medication for a while now, but I would definetely not mix it up with any other type of medication. Please be careful.

Question: pantoprazole is safe in pregnancy? medicine pantoprazole & domperidone is safe in pregnancy or not?
Answer: Pantoprazole (aka protonix) is safe during pregnancy. It is a category B medication for pregnancy.
Domperidone has not been studied on pregnant women, and also is not FDA approved. This, combined with the breast feeding risk, (there is a potential for breast fed infants of mothers on this drug to have cardiac problems) means that you should not take this medication during pregnancy, especially without advice from a doctor. It is a category C medication for pregnancy.
Question: Long term use of pantoprazole? Does anyone know if long term use of pantoprazole & PPI's in general (almost six months) can cause constipation?
Answer: SIDE EFFECTS: Pantoprazole like other PPIs is well-tolerated. The most common side effects are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, rash and headaches. Dizziness, nervousness, abnormal heartbeat, muscle pain, weakness, leg cramps and water retention rarely occur.
Question: When should I take pantoprazole medication? Before or after a meal in the morning
Answer: Pantoprazole is a medicine of anti peptic ulcerant group which reduces the acid secretion.It gives the best results when taken 30-45 minutes before meals.Even if you take it with or after meals,it will be effective but not as effective if taken on empty stomach.Usually one cap.in the morning is sufficient to provide 24 hour cover.
Question: Gastritis, should i be taking pantoprazole? The doc said i have gastritis and prescribed pantoprazole 40 mg , I've done some research and pantoprazole is a pretty strong drug (4 cases of death have been reported in older aged people) , should i be taking this for gastritis?
Answer: Pantoprazole is Protonix - a proton pump inhibitor similar to the over-the-coutner mediation Prilosec (omeprazole). It reduces acid production in the stomach and is therefore used to treat gastric ulcers and acid reflux disease (GERD).
You could potentially just as easily treat the gastritis yourself by taking over-the-counter prilosec.
But, pantoprazole is actually a very well tolerated and very safe drug.
Aspirin could be considered more dangerous...and has indirectly and directly caused more millions of more deaths than pantoprazole.
...though, aspirin is considered a very safe drug, too...if used appropriately.
Protonix is safe for pregnant women to take (a class B drug), though aspirin is not (a class D drug).
Hope this helps some...

Answer: That's Protonix, which, like Nexium, Prilosec, Aciphex and Prevacid, are proton pump inhibitors, drugs which essentially shut off stomach acid production and are helpful for the problems of peptic ulcer disease, gastritis and GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease), the cause of heartburn and esophagitis.

Question: Ulcer medication Pantoprazole..anyone had bad side effects? i started them today. doc said to take 2 today and tomorrow and one a day from then on. has anyone taken this and had bad side effects before? how soon til i start feeling normal?
Answer: Headache is the most common side effect of this medicaiton. It is widely used and you should notice a difference right away, depending on how bad your stomach is. In some situations it may take a couple of days.

Question: I'm taking medication for GERD called Pantoprazole. I just started today, it's once daily.? I feel acidic in my tummy, With this, can i still take my antacid? With most major foods a no-no for GERD what can i eat as alternative ?
Answer: Pantoprazole is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which backward flow of acid from the stomach causes heartburn and injury of the food pipe (esophagus). It is also used to treat conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Pantoprazole is in a class of medications called proton-pump inhibitors. It works by decreasing the amount of acid made in the stomach.
Please see the web pages for more details on Pantoprazole.
