Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride
Question: pseudoephedrine hydrochloride? I failed a drug test for meth-amphetamine. I don't do drugs, so I was wondering if pseudoephedrine hydrochloride contained some type of ingredient to cause this. I took Sudafed 12 hour sinus relief.
Answer: yes it could of caused a positive result-- this is one of the chemicals used to make meth. it should be out of your system in 3 to 5 days-- ask for another test
Question: Can you get high off of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride? I'm just curious. I like to learn about these kinds of things. And when it says Active ingredients Pseudoephedrine - 15mg, does that mean 15mg in each pill? And how many milligrams of pseudoephedrine hcl do you have to take to trip?
Answer: do you consider death to be the ultimate trip. Than you've found your poison. By the way, it won't be a pleasant death. You'll start by having a very rapid pulse and feeling dizzy, then the seizures start and go on and on. If your still conscious you'll feel suffocation and the fear that comes along with it. You die trying to get just one more breath.
God bless.
Question: Can taking a product with Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride make a UA positive for methamphetemines? Where can I find reliable sites that will give me specific info on testing quide lines and who analyses the samples and how they determine the difference between over the counted medications and street drugs like Methamphetemines?
Answer: No, absolutely not. Nor can the drug ephedrine. But they can be chemically processed into meth, both are base drugs for meth. Most commonly pseudoephedrine is used for manufacturing meth but ephedrine can also be processed. But, they are separate compounds from meth itself and cannot be detected on a drug screen as such.
Question: What is the difference between pseudoephedrine hydrochloride and Pseudoephedrine Sulfate?
Answer: they are just different salts of the same drug although one is more easily converted into an illicit substance than the other.
another words as a decongestant they are the same.
Question: Can decongestant (pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, often branded Sudafed) interfere with sleep? I often get sinus congestion, and find these tablets very helpful. One pharmacist told me to avoid them in the evening, as they can interfere with sleep. I've never heard this anywhere else, and can't find any online references to it. Does anyone know either way?
Answer: It is a CNS (Central nervous system) stimulant.Symptoms of central nervous system excitation may occur, including sleep disturbance and, rarely hallucination. This information is in the pack instruction sheet!

Question: pseudoephedrine hydrochloride for weight loss? I've heard that it can be used for weight loss? Does anybody know how I can do this?
Answer: It is a central nervous system stim, but its not a very good fat burner besides that.
You could accomplish exactly the same affects with large amounts of caffeine.
I hate to actually tell you this because I dont feel your ready for drugs, but the only stuff that does work are Ephedrine/ Ephedrine HCL, albuterol, Clenbuterol, and thyroid hormones.
Anything else is pretty much useless.
I put those in order of how dangerous they are, and I dont recommend you use anything until you have a perfect diet and exersise program.
And dont ever use T3, it can ruin your metabolism for life.
All of these drugs are capable of killing you if you mess up with them, and even then they only burn about 200 extra cals a day, so if your routine and diet arent perfect, even they do nothing.
Question: Runny nose ... what's better? 30mg Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride that expired in 2001, or ...? ... 10 mg Loratadine (Claritin) that is current?
Runny nose is from a cold, NOT from allergies.
Answer: I don't think either one will do you any good. Expired medicines are ineffective, and possibly dangerous, and Claritin is not for the symptoms you have. Best to just buy some new Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride
Question: How many actifed kiils? (triprolidine hydrochloride 2.5mg & pseudoephedrine hydrocloride 60mg)? i need urgent or anyone knows which drug is really deadly doing research paper.... about drug abuse! thanks!
Answer: In any practical sense, that would go into the category of random event. The cardiovascular events associated with the decongestant and the anticholinergic effects of the antihistamine are not to be discounted, but in the real world overdoses are limited in the number of pills a person will actually take and retain, and within that range one doesn't reach a level that's normally fatal. One person may take two or three and have a stroke. Another may take a whole stock bottle and survive.
Question: how many actifed kiils? (triprolidine hydrochloride 2.5mg & pseudoephedrine hydrocloride 60mg)? i am doing a drug test research paper
Answer: Lotsa luck! Even the normal doses of pseudoephedrine seem to increase cardiovascular risks, though it's miniscule. And even massive overdoses generally worry the ER personel but wind up with good outcomes.
Question: Is it safe to take more than the recommended dose for sudafed? I bought pseudoephedrine hydrochloride from walgreens and I am wondering what the risks are of taking 1 extra 30 mg pill. I took 2 pills an hour ago and it does not seem to be helping my stuffy ears.
Answer: Sometimes your body has to get used to a certain medication before it actually starts to work. This is what happens with me, especially with antihistamines. If I wait until my symptoms are bad before I take it, I won't get any relief for at least a day. I don't know why this is, exactly, except maybe it's just a way for the medicine to really course through your body. Perhaps that's why you haven't felt any relief as of yet. You just need a bit more time.
By the way, why are you taking Sudafed for stuffy ears? Decongestants are intended to alleviate symptoms in your nasal and sinus passages. And while your ears *are* connected to your throat through the eustachian tube, any stuffiness you feel there would most likely be caused by allergies, in which case an antihistamine would be a better choice.
Anyway, to answer your question, you should never take more than the recommended dosage of any medication UNLESS you have consulted your DOCTOR and he/she has told you it is okay. Asking this question on this forum can yield some dangerous advice. Even if you get a real doctor who can answer such a question intelligently, the fact is that you haven't given some rather pertinent information, like age, height, weight, and most importantly medical history.
Pseudoephedrine is a rather potent stimulant. If you have any sort of heart or vascular condition, or high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. that precludes the introduction of stimulants to your system, you could be asking for serious trouble by taking it...especially by doubling the dose! Please consult your doctor.
Question: What is the problem with taking anti depressant medication and cold/flu medication together? Medication is called Cymbalta (duloxetine 60mg) diagnosed for anxiety, the cold medication has pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 30mg and Paracetamol 500mg & codeine phosphate 9mg. Whats the problem with taking these two meds together??
Answer: Ask a pharmacist.....only they will be aware of potential drug interactions. However, you have to consider you are taking a psychiatric drug that works on the neurotransmitters in your brain. Neurotransmitters in in your brain regulate EVERYTHING with your body. If you cause the wrong interactions, you could lower the threshold for seizures, and have seizures, you could seriously raise or lower your blood pressure or heart rate. And that is just a start. If you have already been told that you should not take that cold medication on the antidepressant, then dont. If you are asking if you can....ask your pharmacist.
Question: Can being sick or taking medication effect getting it up? I recently came down with a major head cold, sinus pressure, runny nose, the whole nine yards feeling like crap basically. My gf wanted us to have sex that next day I came down with it, needless to say I wasnt gonna turn her down but my problem wasnt the foreplay and all, it was getting it up. We tried and tried but I just couldnt seem to get to that point. Does anyone know if certain medication, like Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride, those decongestion over the counter pills, or even just being sick in general, effect something like this, can it? This is the first time its ever happened, so im thinking its being sick related.

Im thinking what I have is more like a sinus infection, sinus pressure, runny nose, coughing yellow mucus, etc. so maybe its my body telling me Im not good to go, lol.
Answer: Yeah you had better believe it. on both counts. Being sick will definitely affect your libido. and so will certain medications such as cold and sinus medicines. So don't worry nothing permanent. Just a minor glitch caused by being sick and medicine.
Question: If I'm anemic and I take iron pills, can I take pseudoephedrine? I have a compulsory swimming carnival tomorrow and I am anemic. I will probably run out of breath halfway through and I probably wouldn't have any energy to continue. So I'm going to take Codral Original tomorrow morning which is a decongestant. Each tablet contains: Paracetamol 500mg, Codeine Phosphate 6mg, Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride 30mg. Is it okay to take this when I currently take 1 iron pill every night? Will the decongestant cause any complications? Will it be a problem to take decongestants if I am anemic? Will the Codral Original give me an adrenaline boost and will I get more energy? Because I honestly need it in the swimming carnival tomorrow since I am anemic. How many tablets should I take tomorrow morning? Please help, and serious answers from experts only (doctors, nurses etc.)
Answer: Correct me if I'm wrong, but taking a stimulant before a competition could give you an unfair advantage. Hardly sportsman like conduct, don't you think?
Think about it. If you are anemic, your oxygen carrying capacity will be diminished. Taking a stimulant won't increase it at all.
Question: Can a fever (or the sensation of a fever) be caused by one of these common drug ingredients? This morning I sneezed a little, and I took a pill -- Cold & Allergy Relief (by CVS). It contains Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride and Triprolidine Hydrochloride. After a couple of a hours, I started feeling feverish and drowsy, so I went to bed.
I noticed that this has happened to me previously. My question is -- did I really have a fever? And if I didn't, why did it feel as if I was having one? Could it be the result of taking this pill? If I did have a fever, did the pill cause it?
Thank you in advance for serious answers.
Answer: This likely happened from the medication.
Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant that can temporarily raise your heart rate or increase your blood pressure. It was likely an increase in blood pressure that made you feel warm. It wasn't a fever, it just felt like one. If this happens often, try a cold remedy without Pseudoephedrine. Coricidin is one brand name that doesn't contain any decongestants and they market it for people with high blood pressure.
Triprolidine is an antihistamine with a side effect of drowsiness which is why you felt sleepy.
Question: Can I take herbal sleeping pills with paracetamol & actifed? I have a very bad cold and sore throat, and haven't slept for two nights.
Could I take Actifed (contains: Tripolidine hydrochloride, Pseudoephedrine hydrchloride & lactose), paracetamol and some herbal sleeping pills together?
The sleeping pills only contain extracts of passionflower, hops and valerian.
Thanks.
Answer: No problem that I can see.
Question: Fluid build up behind eardrum- Blocked eustachian tube? Hi,
Over the last couple of weeks I have had fluid build behind the eardrum (eustachian tube).
And I was just wondering if it was a good idea to use a decongestant tablet (pseudoephedrine hydrochloride) to try and relieve and drain some of the fluid from behind the eardrum.
Will this work?
Thanks.
Answer: The simple answer is no.
Pseudoephedrine is a "sympathomimetic" i.e. it mimics the actions of a sympathetic nervous system stimulator such as epinephrine. The medication works as a decongestant because it causes vasocontriction of the nasal blood vessels that cause the symptoms of nasal congestion.
I am assuming you have had the ear looked at by the doctor, and he has said that there is fluid behind the drum? The most common cause of this is infection in the middle ear causing "otitis media". The doctor will normally prescribe antibiotics, and the congestion in the eustachian tube will normally settle once the infection has been sorted.
DO NOT try to remedy this yourself from home!
Question: What is the most powerful nasal decongestant available? Oxymetazoline hydrochloride and pseudoephedrine sprays cause rebound congestion. Oral pseudoephedrine and loratadine do not work.
Does ANYTHING work that can be taken for long periods of time for completely eliminating nasal congestion?
Answer: I have had more luck using a nasal rinse and the snore patches. I also like the fact that there are no drugs involved.
