Thioridazine
Question: Does it really need to use Luvox or thioridazine to leave masturbation ? recently i offen masturbate 3 or 4 times in a day !!
Do you have better suggestion ?
Answer: drop the guilt. there's nothing wrong with that, I see nothing wrong with doing it 3 or 4 times a day.
Question: Any street uses for Thioridazine, Haloperidol, Quetiapine, Bupropion, and Amitriptyline? I'm writing a paper on these psychoactive drugs and I need to know if there are any street uses for them. The first three are anti-psychotic drugs and the second two are anti-depressants. Thanks.
Answer: Oh for sure. Grind them into a fine powder and sell them on the street as "crank". You'll make a fortune..
Question: thioridazine to get a buzz? I found these pills, and have heard of the Thorazine shuffle. Is it a good buzz for people without schizophrenia?
Answer: Thioridazine and Thorazine are different drugs, but they aren't something you'd want to take recreationally. The most basic reason being, it wouldn't be fun at all. They are antipsychotics; they work by blocking your dopamine receptors, which is the exact opposite of how most psychedelic drugs work. You'd probably just feel very groggy and bored. In fact, these drugs are often used to end a trip on different drugs if it gets out of hand.
So basically, it wouldn't be worth the potential side effects... one or two of which are fatal.
Question: what is the thioridazine content, in milligrams, of each tablet? Thioridazine, C21H26N2S2, is pharmaceutical used in the regulation of dopamine, a neurotransmitter in the brain. A chemist can analyze a sample for the thiordazine content by decomposing to convert the sulfur in the compound to sulfate ion. This is then "trapped" as water-insoluble barium sulfate according to the reaction:
[SO4]2- +BaCl2=BaSO4+2Cl-
Suppose a 10-tablet sample of the drug yields 0.250 g of barium sulfate. What is the thioridazine content, in milligrams, of each tablet?
Answer: moles BaSO4 = 0.250 g /233.43 g/mol = 0.00107
moles thioridazine = 2 x 0.00107 ( because in the molecule there are 2 Sulfur atoms) = 0.00214
Mass = 0.00214 mol x 370 g/mol = 0.791 g => 791 mg
Question: Is clonidine and thioridazine safe medication for a 4 yr old child? MY GRANDSON IS A BRIGHT AND BUSY CHILD. HE HAS RECENTLY BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH ASBERGERS SYNDROME. THIS DOES NOT SEEM REAL, HE'S A VERY SMART 4 YR OLD. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT HIS MEDICATION. HE TAKES .25 MG OF CLONIDINE 2 X A DAY , ALONG WITH 2.5 MG OF THIORIDAZINE 2 X A DAY
I've been trying to find out as much as i possibly can about this illness. Diet and nutrients are an essential part of this treatment, yet the doctor never said anything to my son & his wife about this. It makes sense from what foods I've seen that need to be avoided that his diet needs to be changed.
Answer: Asperger's is a form of Autism.
Clonidine is used in children to treat ADHD, Tic disorders, and Tourettes. In adults it is an anti-hypertensive (for high blood pressure).
In adults, Thioridazine is used for the management of manifestations of psychotic disorders and treatment of moderate to marked depression with variable degrees of anxiety and for the treatment of multiple symptoms such as agitation, anxiety, depressed mood, tension, sleep disturbances, and fears in geriatric patients.
In children it's used for the treatment of severe behavioral problems marked by combativeness and/or explosive hyperexcitable behavior, and in the short-term treatment of hyperactive children who show excessive motor activity with accompanying conduct disorders consisting of some or all of the following symptoms: impulsivity, difficulty sustaining attention, aggressivity, mood lability, and p.o. frustration tolerance.
So it's seems to me that the doctor is attempting to treat symptoms of hyper-activity and compulsive behavior.
These drugs have very serious side effects on the heart, kidneys, and central nervous system. I personally would not give them to my child without a second opinion. Take him to a Pediatric Neurologist and/or Psychiatrist for evaluation and their recommendations.
The short answer to your question-in my opinion, no these 2 drugs are not safe for a 4 yo. Seek additional medical expertise and counsel.
I HAVE TO respond to some other folks that answered....
1) children cannot speak nor make judgements/decisions for themselves. It is the responsibility of the family to advocate for them. Getting more information is crucial. Parents know their children better than doctors do, they are with them all day everyday.
2) It's great to trust the doctor but doctors make mistakes too. My 2 nieces were both misdiagnosed by their pediatricians. In the most serious case my 8 m.o. niece was diagnosed with Pneumonia and Bronchitis. She had a very rare and serious form of cancer. If the family hadn't pushed and pushed for more answers, she would have died within weeks.
3) One responder was correct. Many of the drugs ARE NOT tested on kids. Who wants to use their child as a guinea pig? If you want to read the drug trials for yourself go to www.fda.gov. The National Institute for Health also has valuable information www.nih.gov.
Many drugs are FDA approved for specific purposes but are prescribed "off label" for a different medical purpose. When used off label there may not be any testing done for this unapproved purpose.
4) At 4, the child's physical and mental development are at stake. Don't jeopardize his future by following one opinion blindly.
5) and I repeat-seek addtional medical opinions from those who specialize in the field
Question: Does Luvox interact with thioridazine? can i use both of them together?!!
Answer: Yes they do interact. Fluvoxamine(Luvox) affects the pharmaco-kinetics of Thioridazine causing an increase in the plasma concentrations of the latter and it's metabolites (mesoridazine & sulforidazine). This can result in serious cardiovascular side-effects. Avoid the combo.
The following is a list of drugs to avoid when taking Luvox:
- cisapride
- astemizole (Hisminal)
- terfenadine (Seldane)
- tizanidine
- pimozide (Orap)
- Any Monoamine Oxide Inhibitor (MAOI) eg. Nardil, Parnate, Marplan
- tryptophan
- triptans (sumatriptan etc.)
- benzodiazepines that are metabolized by hepatic oxidation (alprazolam, diazepam, midazolam, triazolam)
- theophylline
- warfarin
- aspirin & NSAIDS (increased risk of bleeding)
Cheers,
AJ
EDIT: add beta-blockers to the list above as suggested by the previous poster
Question: is thioridazine dangerous for health?
Answer: is it a medicine for thyroid.u didnt specify.any medicine as such not prescribed by the doc could be fatal.
Question: what is the best antipsychotic drug?I mean which one has the least side effects? I am suffering from panic attacks associated with depression & my doctor has prescribed zoloft with Thioridazine a week ago he eliminated thioridazine and added perphenazine instead. i hate perphenazine cause it induces akathisia in me now what should i do ?by the way i'm 24 yearsold & male
Answer: I also suffered from akathisia when I took Perphenazine, I found Prochlorperazine 10mg (two tablets) where much better and they did not cause any side effects.
Everyone respond differently to antipsychotic drugs so you need to find the right one for you.
Question: any bipolars out there i need some advice? the man i am seeing acts like a total sleazeslut often, could this be because of his bp and is there any way of decreasing this type of behaviour. Also i am worried about one of his meds, melleril thioridazine, what do u think?
Answer: Do you mean he`s promiscuous? Yeah, unfortunately it`s major problem with us bipolar people. Get him in to see someone. He`s probably manic and needs some mood stabilizers..
Question: feel suicidel voices are back plz help? im schizophrenic ive been on thioridazine for 2 years but i have not had it for a month because i read it can cause severe brain shrinkage along with all outher antipsychotics i fell like killing myself plz help
Answer: Take any thought about hurting yourself seriously. I know. Been there.
For your safety, back away from the computer now and call a crisis line. There should be one listed in the yellow pages under that category or under "Mental Health".
I am not going to lecture you on not taking any meds. I have done this myself. However, stop taking a medication, especially a psych med, can be harmful. This is particularly true when it needs to be tapered off to avoid any complications.
I don't know much about thioridazine. There are, though, other very good mood stabilizers out there.
I hope that you have a psychiatrist that you see. If not, get one. Only a psychiatrist is trained to prescribe the right meds for an individual. They will know of any side effects or possible reactions.
I have found that discussing any questions or misunderstanding about a med is really helpful to my psychiatrist in getting me the right treatment. I even asked to see the desktop reference that he has to read up on the med that he is wanting to prescribe for me.
Also, I have found that counseling is a big help for me. It compliments the meds. Medication can only help so far. Counseling should be sought whether taking meds or not.
You may not be religious, but for me, talking (praying) to God the Great Healer and meditaion have been a big boost on getting me on the road to recovery.
You said that you have fears with a side effect of the med you were taking. You said that you read it can cause brain shrinkage. I hate to be rude, but you may not have a brain to shrink if you don't get help now. :-)
God bless. I will keep you in my prayers. Go with the grace of God.
Question: I've got my hands shaking ? So, thats it
I've got ocd and paranois schizophrenia and
I was prescribed Zoloft, Thioridazine and Phenibutum by my psychiatrist.

Zoloft makes mental illnesses even worse in most cases and creates apathy and lethargy
As for the shaking its just a normal side effect

Answer: Vivid dreams are a common side effects of psych drugs... it usually passes in a month or so.

Answer: You are on a strong first generation anti psychotic. I think that will cause some of this. Also remember people with schizophrenia can have very vivid unpleasant dreams so the medication is probably adding to it as well. I hope they go away soon, I do think you should tell your doctor that you are having this as a side effect.
Question: I was prescribed Zoloft and ..? Thioridazine due to my OCD. The first month of taking it, I felt relief
At this moment (the second month of taking it) I dont see any improvement
Seems like I dont take anything at all
Did you experienced such thing ?

Answer: My son takes zoloft. He is autistic and has a genetic disorder, so I can't ask him about it. He started out on 50 mg/day, which worked for a while. He takes it to calm his 'fits', as we call them. He hits himself, tears things up, goes into rages, etc. After about a year or so, his behavior became bad again (mind you, it was never cured). Now he takes 100 mg/day and he seems to be doing fine. He still has outbursts, but they are manageable and less severe. He is 16 and weighs 180 lbs, if that makes a difference.
Zoloft is one of those drugs that comes in many different dosages. They always start you out on the lowest dosage, which may help in the short-term, but may be too low to sustain the benefit. Your best bet really is to talk to your Dr. and consider a higher dosage. Medication is like shooting at a target; sometimes you get lucky and hit the bulls eye, other times you need to adjust the sights.
If zoloft worked for you, at all, then I would consider a higher dose.
EDIT: If you have OCD to the extent that it interferes with your life, then you need intensive therapy. No drug will cure you. Drugs only subdue the symptoms for a while, but they don't fix the problem. My wife went to psychiatrist for depression and anxiety. All he did was update her meds once a month and write a prescription. He never addressed her underlying problems.
She died on May 21, 2010 at the age of 46. She spent her lifetime killing herself. She abused her body to the point that she was on an IV feeding tube when she died. She lived in a dark and lonely hole since she was a child. Drugs helped her cope, but they couldn't cure her.
You need to be seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist several times a week to address the underlying issues surrounding your OCD. Getting a prescription renewed once a month is not going to help you.
Just read the next answer. My son is also on Risperdol. Because he is autistic, it's supposed to make him more sociable, less afraid of others. It works great, too, although it increases his apetite and has caused him to become so heavy.
Question: True or false psychotic drugs?????????????? Antipsychotic drugs tend to be hydrophilic and absorbed slowly = FALSE

Thioridazine can cause torsade de pointes =TRUE
Heamodialysis is ineffective at reducing plasma lithium concentrations = FALSE
Non steroidal anti inflammatory agents increase renal excretion of lithium = FALSE
Answer: Many of your answers are wrong. Sorry.
Question: is it possible that some drugs might induce unfavorable results? 2 years ago i was suffering from sever social anxiety disorder.my doctor duplicated the dose of Citalopram( two tab a day) and added 4mg Perphenazine.instead of getting better i experienced pure hell for two weeks i vomitted 7 times a day(unlike perphenazine's natural property) and terrible akathisia was going to kill me.then my new doctor prescribed two tab of Zoloft 50mg & two tab of Thioridazine 10 mg every day, it acted excellent on me till to day. now i'd like to know that perphenazine caused that terrible illness?
Answer: yes, these are side effects of drugs to many persons when starting the treatement. Sometimes these side effects slow down when your body gets used to.
. Medication can be useful in some situations, but tranquilizes should never be a long term “cure”
Natural cures include behavior management techniques, proper diet and exercise, herbal remedies and yoga techniques. These will actually work towards alleviating your anxiety.

Answer: Buproion gave me very intense headaches in the attempt to stop my smoking. I think the Dr. should have told me his full intentions. I knew I was adding it on to accommodate my current anti-depression drugs but did not know I would suffer incurably while my did his secret little study.

Answer: Many antidepressants have given me vivid dreams. It's common. If they disturb your sleep, tell your doc and they will make adjustments to your meds.
