Question: Wellbutrin SR? Has anyone taken wellbutrin SR and noticed any long term effects of taking this drug? And what type of withdrawel symtoms do u get when u stop taking this?

Answer: I'm on Wellbutrin XL, I don't know what the exact difference is but it seems fine to me. I drink every once in a while and don't notice any side effects. I've messed up because I've been on and off with this drug. I started taking it a year ago and I would take it for a few months and then stop for a few months and then get back on, its definitely not good and I'm gonna try to stick with it. The only thing I noticed on the last go-around was that I started getting these weird seizures or something. It wasn't really a seizure but like I'd be sitting at my computer at work and suddenly its like someone changes the channel in my brain 4 or 5 times really quickly and then I can't remember where I was before, and it takes me a few seconds to remember everything. This even happened a few times while I was walking. I don't fall or pass out, I just stop for a second or two and then I'm fine. It only happened to me 4 times and then it stopped, either on its own or it could be because I stopped talking the drugs .

Question: wellbutrin sr? what's the maximum amount of wellbutrin sr that should be taken in a day? ive read that it's 400-450mg. im on 450mg a day right now so i was just curious...

Answer: The maximum recommended dose is 400mg. a day although some Dr.'s do prescribe 450 mgs. The reason it is limited is because the risk of seizure is higher but you need to take it as prescribed by your Dr. and if you do not feel comfortable with your dosage speak with your Dr. I take Wellbutrin Sr. I take 400 mgs. but I know of someone who takes 450 mgs. also. Question: People on Wellbutrin SR: How many hours do you usually wait to take your second pill? Hi- I know technically, (according to the pharmacist's sheet and things like that) you are supposed to space your Wellbutrin SR at least eight hours apart to avoid risk of seizure. However, the risk of seizure on Wellbutrin is very low. Does anyone here take their second pill less than eight hours from their first for instance, six hours later? I don't always remember to take my first pill until noon sometimes, but that puts my second pill at 8:00pm which can make it hard to sleep later on. So, is it ok to take it six hours later sometimes or will I be dancing with death unless I wait the full eight hours? David S- I'm glad Lexapro works better for YOU. Wellbutrin works wonders for ME. Don't assume that Wellbutrin is the first kind of antidepressant I've ever taken. naanaa- thanks for answering, but like I said, I already know what the pharmacist says. Question: Has anyone experienced a terrible itchy rash while taking Wellbutrin SR? I started taking Wellbutrin SR 3 days ago and started breaking out yesterday. At first I thought it was poison ivy, but I couldn't figure out how that happened. I am becoming more convinced that it is the medication especially since I continue to have new eruptions. What are your thoughts and how can I get some relief?

Answer: I took Wellbutrin before I realized that by eating low-carb would increase my mood dramatically (no joke, even I was surprised) & never experienced any rashes. In fact, I didn't get any effect whatsoever from the pill. I would contact your doctor because that should NOT be a side effect of the drug. I typically don't recommend antidepressants; however, I hope they work out for you =]

Question: what are side effects of smoking marijuana on wellbutrin sr? I have been told that some anti-depressants do not work if you smoke marijuana, like prozac. Is wellbutrin sr like this as well, if so, is it any better? Also would like to know if it is better for drinking alcohol than other anti-depressants. Thanks.

Answer: There IS no definite answer I'm afraid Very few studies are done on this kind of thing, and it affects everyone differently anyway. You're really best off not smoking it at all. What IS known is that marijuana DOES have a significant risk of causing depression, anxiety, etc.

Question: Is anyone else having the same side effects to Wellbutrin SR? I take Wellbutrin SR 150mg twice daily for over 6 months, I have been having some interesting side affects since, first of all my short term memory and my memory all together have been pretty much non-existent, my concentration is lower then it has ever been and I am always tired and my reflexes are shot. Is anyone else having these problems? And if so how did you solve them?

Answer: I tried it for a short time to see if it was acceptable and it made me too tired and kept me awake at night so I got off it. So I didn't have the problems as extensive as yours. I ended up using antidepressants for about two and a half years and went off the one I was on about 3 months ago and noticed I felt again. I see how the antidepressant dulled my life inside, I am happy to be off them. If your symptoms are unacceptable and they are causing more problems than you are getting help from a medication you should try to switch to a different medication that you can live with. That is how I solve my problem with a medication that is causing unacceptable side affects and I talk to my doctor about it to figure out an alternative.

Question: Can you half the wellbutrin sr pill safely? If trying to lower the dosage, is it safe to half the wellbutrin sr pill in order to wean yourself off of it? What's the safest way to wean yourself off the medication?

Answer: A good way to find out for certain is talk with the pharmacist. I believe Wellbutrin SR *can* be split, but it would be best to check first. I know Wellbutrin XL can *not* be safely split. .

Answer: According to several case reports, stopping bupropion abruptly may result in discontinuation syndrome expressed as dystonia, irritability, anxiety, mania, headache, aches and pains. Do not stop taking bupropion without talking to your doctor. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually. Answer: You didn't mention your age but if your still in your teens notify your doctor if the depression gets worse.Everyone is different.But teens and young adults can get more depressed.I've seen it happen with both my daughters.It will take anywhere from 2 weeks to 8 weeks to really start working.

Answer: I haven't taken either drug, but it is not smart to mix anything with Wellbutrin. Talk to your doctor. This can be a very dangerous combination.

Answer: none that I'm aware of

Question: Can be divided for half a tablet of Wellbutrin SR? The Doctor I prescribe 75 mg of Wellbutrin but in Mexico only exists Wellbutrin SR 150 mg. I can divide the tablet for half? It is possible to be altered formulates or to cause it some problem. The Somebody has divided the tablets?

Answer: no SR stands for sustained release. If you cut it in half it could dissolve too quickly and you could overdose. Do not cut in half, call your doctor to change the doseage if you need to.

Question: Does Wellbutrin SR show up in a drug test? I started taking Wellbutrin SR to help me quit smoking and want to know if it will show in the drug screening for work.

Answer: Just let the person know you are taking it (dosage, for how long, etc.) when you go for the screening. No big deal :-)

Question: Did Wellbutrin SR or Wellbutrin XL keep you awake at night? I was recently prescribed Wellbutrin and it has been working fine, except that I can't sleep at night. Is this a side effect that goes away after a couple weeks or is this a long term side effect?

Answer: The same thing happened to me. With me some nights I have trouble sleeping, and others I sleep like a baby. Do you take it in the morning when you wake up? If not, you should ask your doctor if you could because you're having sleep issues. If you are still having sleep issues, maybe talk to your doctor about getting sleep medication. It doesn't even have to be every night, because I only take it when I'm feeling restless. Your doctor can help figure out what's best for you. I sure hope you are able to start sleeping regularly again soon!

Question: Can you still smoke while taking Wellbutrin SR? I'm starting Wellbutrin for depression and to quit smoking, but I just don't think I can quit cold turkey. I want to gradually stop. It said on the package to let your doctor know if you smoke before taking this medicine.... Does that mean you can't smoke at all once you take it? Answer: Wait until you've taken it for two weeks before you try to stop smoking. It has to build up in your system. It's the same drug as Zyban (just a different brand name) that doctors prescribe to help people stop smoking. It probably says that on the package so your doctor can alert you that it can help you quit smoking. I used it and it made a HUGE difference. Normally if I would quit cold turkey I would have severe withdrawal symptoms and be miserable for several days. On the Zyban (Wellbutrin) after taking it for about a week the cigarettes started tasting really weird and gross. I set my quit date for two weeks after I started taking it. The first day without cigarettes I had only mild withdrawal symptoms. The second day, nothing. It was amazing.

Question: Why would a doctor recommend adding Wellbutrin SR to Prozac? They are both antidepressants, right? So why the need for both? Do they have different effects? Thanks in advance!

Answer: I actually took both. For me they seemed to do different things. The prozac worked wonders on my anxiety and OCD sort of things, but I was still depressed. Wellbutrin helped some with that. The two meds seemed to compliment one another well, go figure. If you are on them a while and feel overmedicated or suffer from too many negative side effects you can always work with your doctor to off it and try something else. I hope you feel better soon.

Question: doctor tripled my dosage of wellbutrin sr wondering how long it will take to see a change? ok i was put on 100mg of wellbutrin sr a day.. took them for a month.. no improvement.. the doctor just increased my dosage to 300mg a day .. just wondering if it will take less time to affect me since i took the 100mg for a month already.. since it is already in my system.. im taking it for depression and adhd

Answer: It will effect you sooner than your first dosage will. You should feel it in the first week or so.

Question: Wellbutrin SR or XL 10 points for best answer? I wanted to get some peoples experience on the two. I am taking 150mg wellbutrin SR two times a day, for OCD, and weight management. I am just curious if people noticed more of a curbed appetite with the SR or XL. I would like to hear some pros and cons of each. Also I would like some peoples experience on drinking beer, I know it says not to drink but I like to drink some beer on saturday night, have you drank while taking this, what did you experience.

Answer: Not sure which one I was on but it didn't help me lose weight at all. I quit smoking really quickly though. I was on a short fuse the whole time I was taking it. I would just blow up on people for no reason. If you start experiencing a lot of anger I recommend you get on something else. I was fine drinking alcohol. I was not the same person on this drug, and I haven't quite been the same since.

Question: I am taking Wellbutrin SR and tapering off Effexor XR, Should I taper off the Wellbutrin at the same time? I am down to 37.5 mg of Effexor XR, I was taking 225mg, I am also on Wellbutin SR 150. I have a hard time sleeping and I am dizzy and ache all over. Does anyone know if I should taper off the Wellbutrin at the same time, since it has always caused a problem with my sleep? I am waiting to get into the doctor. I can't believe I ever started taking these drugs, I feel like I need to drive myself to the hospital.

Answer: You should never increase or decrease a drug without talking to your doctor first. I am on Wellbutrin and have also been on effexor xr and trust me, if you don't take one or the other for a few days you can really feel the effects. I would call your dr.'s office again and tell them that you're having these side effects. Tapering off any drug like that on your own could be very dangerous. If you can't get your dr. on the phone than go to the ER if it gets really bad. Hope this helps.
