Zolmitriptan
Question: can you get high off of zolmitriptan?
Answer: wha?
Question: Zomig ZMT 2.5 mg dissolvable tablets - How much is the limit within a 30-day period? I was prescribed Zomig ZMT 2.5 mg (Zolmitriptan) by my Neurologist (along with other medications) to see if maybe they can relieve my migraines. The other two prescriptions she gave me are useless. The one does nothing. And the other is actually an anti-depressant that should help me stay asleep and wake without a headache, but just makes me tired the entire next day.
This seems to be the only medicine that somewhat helps. It takes a while, but it helps. But this is what the website says about how many I can take in a month: "The safety of treating an average of more than three headaches in a 30-day period has not been established." It doesn't say anything else. And my Neurologist provided me with a refill that ables me to take 12 a month without going over my prescription. So how do I know how many I can take in a month without over doing it? I'm already on several other medicines, 3 of which I have gotten after I saw her, so she doesn't know about them. Currently I am on 5 valid prescriptions, 1 I take every day, 1 I take basically everyday but it does nothing, 1 I don't take anymore because it makes me too sleepy for work, Zomig I am taking not so often but need it more, and 1 that I will run out of by this Thursday. The other 2 she didn't know about ended already.
So I don't know how much of the Zomig I can take. So far today I have taken a pain medication that ends Thursday, for something that the Dentist messed up my teeth and put me in excruitiating pain, 1 of the 50 mg pill that doesn't do anything for my headaches, and I just took 1 Zomig, my 5th one within about a 25 day period. Right now I feel very hot. I have my fan on at work and my body is freezing but my head is burning, I feel very dizzy, I might puke, my head is killing me it feels like someone is drilling in it and squeezing it between two cinder blocks, terrible neck pain, and all that fun stuff. This was going on before I took the Zomig, though. So I don't think it's related to Zomig.
I just want to know how much is the limit per month for Zomig. Does anyone know?
Answer: There are no limits on the number of pills you can get per month. Your insurance might limit the number they will pay for.
The issue with the triptans is that they aren't super effective. In the best circumstances, they work 80% of the time.
5 Zomigs a month is quite a lot. My guess is that you are also on amitriptyline and/or topiramate. Those are the best preventative drugs for migraines, currently.
Question: Strong medication for migraines? I suffer from chronic migraines, but haven't really gotten anything prescribed to me because my mother has migraines as well. Somehow, she doesn't care if I have them or not. Anyways, I've been swallowing all different types of Advil over the past few days (Liqui-Gels, Extra Strength, regular...etc) and nothing has worked.
I have to be able to play tennis in about an hour and a half. I play in an academy, so we have to be alert, focused, and aggressive.
I'm wondering if zolmitriptan (Zomig) works because I have it in my house. Also, can you mix it with energy drinks because I got barely any sleep last night?
Thanks.
Answer: DO NOT take Zomig unless it was prescribed for you. Zomig is a triptan. They are known to have different effects on different people. Even though I am healthy with NO heart problems triptan stopped my heart. If I hadn't been in the emergency room when they gave it too me I would be dead!
You need to be seen by a good doctor for your migraines. Your mom obviously gets help or there would not be Zomig in your house. Insist that you see a doctor soon! The only thing I can suggest now is to drink a coke. The coke syrup may help with any nausea that often comes with a migraine and the caffeine will help the other pills, ibuprofen etc. work better.
Good Luck.

I have the nasal spay kind.
Answer: Zomig works for some people, I had it in the nose spray form....eww....it's horrible and I don't recommend it. I can't remember trying it in a pill form. They have whats called MaxAlt. It's a melt away tablet and it usually works in a half hour. I personally think the imitrex shots work the best, or at least they do for me. I've tried it in a pill form and that didn't work and I also have tried the nose spray of it too, it's Absolutely discusting when it's running down the back of your throat, I mean come on your already sick to your stomach with the migraine nyway, ya know. For bad headaches (before i break out the shot) I take 3 ex strength excedrin and 2 ex strength tylenol...you can take it with a pop a lot of the time caffeine helps....then lay down for a half hour. If that doesn't work you need something stronger. With the excedrin and tylenol, you can't wait till you have a full blown out mmigraine take it when you start to get a headache. Good Luck!!
Question: Could these things be linked to my depression? I'm really depressed and have been for a long time, I haven't really told anyone about it and am struggling to try and fix my problems. So when I found out I had hypothyroidism and saw that depression was a symptom, I was really hoping that once my TSH levels were regulated I would be able to feel good again, finally. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I've been on my meds for awhile now, and according to my blood tests my TSH levels are all good, but I'm still depressed. I've cut, and I know the time will come when I'll take it too far, and I really won't care if I die. Even though I'm being treated for hypothyroidism, is there a possibility that it could be causing my depression? Also, I've been getting terrible migraines for almost five years now, and stomach and back pains in the last few as well, is it possible that these could be due to the depression? I've read that those types of things could be linked.
Anyways, I'm just really stuck, and I'm alone on this. My dad's an alcoholic whom I don't talk to, and I'm not close at all with my mother. I feel like I'm finally ready to maybe get help, but I don't know what to do or who to turn to. Any insight whatsoever would help, thanks.
Oh and also, the medication I take is,
Eltroxin (for my hypothyroidism)
Zomig (Zolmitriptan tablets, 2.5 mg) [only taken when I have a migraine, which is actually quite often]
Teva-Nortriptyline (3 pills daily, 10mg each) [to prevent my migraines]
I may not be correct about the dosages, I'm not completely sure.
The last two, for the migraines, I only started taking about three or four months ago.
Now, is it possible that any of these drugs could cause my depression?
Answer: Ask your doctor why you are still taking pills to prevent migraines when you are still getting them so often and have to take the reliever drugs anyway? There must be something else to try if it's not working.
Also you need blood tests every 3 months for your TSH, FT3 and FT4 to know if the medication is working and at the right dose. It may need to be adjusted.
If you are depressed, I recommend you ask your doctor about citalopram. It's not new on the market, been around for years and proven. The initial dose is 20mg (or 10mg if you are under 18) and will be reviewed.
Lastly, you should find a confidante. A good friend, school cousellor, relative.. best of luck.
Things will get better, take care of yourself and try to be around positive people.
Question: Back to College on Benefits and Self-Help tips on Anxiety related issues?!?!?!?!? Hi there,
At the moment I am on Benefits and get so tired, day in and day out of doing nothing, sitting behind 4 walls. I am currently on Incapacity Benefit, Income Support Top-up and D.L.A. I have been diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia and a whole host of other Conditions including Social Anxiety and Panic Disorder.
I don't know if I should go back to College (Part Time as I couldn't handle Full Time) or not. What is classed as 'Full Time' in terms of College rules? Am I supposed to be going to College and getting Income Support at same time or am I right that there is an exception for Disabled people? (I am registered Disabled and live in a Ground Floor Flat).
Also, am on regular meds..
I take...
Mirtazapine - Anti-Depressant
Lorazepam - Anti-Anxiety
Quetiapine - Anti-Psychotic
Depixol - Anti-Psychotic/Mood Stabiliser
Tramadol - Pain Relief
Dihydrocodeine - Pain Relief
Salbutamol (Blue) Inhaler - Asthma
Beclometasone (Brown) Inhaler - Asthma
Zomig (Zolmitriptan) - Migraines
So what else can I do to help with my Anxiety, Angst and Nerves? I get something that I call "Funny Eye Syndrome" where I can't see properly out of my eyes and have to sit with my hands over my eyes in a dark room for 10 mins to make it go away. Without the Lorazepam it takes around 3 - 4 hours to wear off where as with the Lorazepam it takes around 10 - 15 mins to wear off.
Thanks,
Lin. x
Answer: With all the medication you are taking I am shocked that you are still alive.

Answer: get yourself in therapy, and educate yourself on anxiety in your spare time. dont focus on your health/meds, it forms an anxiety of itself
Question: Can I get a medical marijuana card for migraine headaches? I have had migraines since I was 11 years old. It is the worst kind of pain I have ever had. When they happen, I'm highly sensitive to light, and I get nauseous and dizzy. My parents took me to the hospital the first time I had one at 11. I'm now 25, and I still have them. I've seen several doctors, and they all try to prescribe me preventative medicine. I've been put on sumatriptan (imitrex), Zolmitriptan, and Rizatriptan. I've also been told to take excedrin migraine, advil, tylenol, and other OTC's with acitometophen in them. I've had MRI's, and seen several neurologists. Nothing works.
One of my friends suggested that I try smoking marijuana when I had my next migraine. So I did. Let me tell you, a few minutes after I smoked, I was able to go to sleep almost instantly. It was a miracle. The pain was substantially decreased, the cold sweats and the nausea melted away, and I felt immediate relief.
I don't live in any state that allows medicinal marijuana, but these migraines are chronic (at least 1-4 times a month) and rule my life, and I'm willing to move to a U.S. state that provides M.M. cards. The question is: Can I get a medical marijuana card for migraine headaches? What is the process? Is there a website that provides doctors that can provide me with one? And how much does it cost? Thank you.
Answer: You need a STINKn' card? Then read and move: http://medicalmarijuana.procon.org/
The process will include moving out of your parents basement.
Go old school; find it and smoke it.
Question: Will painkillers help me sleep? okay, so i have naproxen, zolmitriptan, domperidone, dosulepin, paracetamol, tramadol and ibuprofen. i was wondering if taking all these painkillers at once would help me sleep better? or even just taking 4 of one of these, thanks (:
Answer: I tried them once (paracetamol) instead of sleeping tablets and while they knocked me out it wasn't a refreshing sleep and I still felt tired when I woke up. I think painkillers interfere with REM sleep.
Question: SUPER MIGRAINE! HELP!? Ive had so many migraines before but never one this bad. My head is throbbing and pulsating behind my eyes and above my forehead. it hurts so ******* bad i want to die right now. god, just kill me. i took some migraine pill 45 mins ago, nothing. and i took an anxiety pill to calm me down but that made it worse and i feel like my brain will pop out of eyes. i took out my contacts and dranks a lot of water, like a liter, i ate breakfast. i dont know what the **** is wrong with me. its never been this bad.do you think another zolmitriptan will help? ****!!!
Answer: The migraine might be caused by stress. You have to take a zero day and lie down. No matter how much you go to the bathroom that day, keep drinking. Go for a gallon of water in one day. Put a sheet over the couch because you'll probably be sweating. Turn the heat way up. Don't eat or take any meds during that day. Take a 1000 mg vitamin C tablet for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Question: Migraine help, only occurs when I watch a screen? Hi, I'm 16. And about 2 months ago I was on the computer and I noticed a migraine like pain so I came off the computer assuming I was going to have a migraine (I usually get migraines every couple of months). The pain wasn't as severe as an actual migraine, but this has been happening ever since if I go on the computer or watch the telly too close. So, I went to the doctors and was prescribed with zolmitriptan and pizotifen. The zolmitriptan is very effective but it's only a short term relief and I've found out it shouldn't be taken very regularly. I'm sort of at the point now where I'm not sure what to do, does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Skye, thanks in advance.
Forgot to say, I'm male.
Have also already been to the optician, it's not a problem with my eyes.
Answer: Did your doctor not tell you to get your eyes tested or make an appointment for you to have them examined at a hospital. This is basic proceedure for migrains. These attacks can also be bought on by certain foods. I cannot eat much chocolate as this affects me.
